The Salvation Army serving Okaloosa & Walton Counties

The Salvation Army serving Okaloosa & Walton Counties Welcome to The Salvation Army of Fort Walton Beach. We are a Christian church who meet regularly to worship God.

Through our love for God and others, we have many volunteer opportunities so that you can help us for the most people. Within The Salvation Army Church, Christian faith is expressed through active service. The vision of The Salvation Army has always been to lead men and women into a proper relationship with God. The Army recognizes that a physical, emotional and social restoration m

ust go hand in hand with spiritual rebirth. The Army practices an integrated ministry, uniting spiritual, social and physical support. Operations of The Salvation Army are supervised by trained, commissioned officers who proclaim the gospel and serve as administrators, teachers, social workers, counselors, youth leaders and musicians. These men and women have dedicated their lives, skills and service completely to God.

The women who served the donuts became known as the “DONUT LASSIES” and are often credited with introducing the donut to the American public when soldiers returned home from the war. Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, The Salvation Army continued to make and distribute donuts, offering a sense of hope during the Great Depression.

In 1938, The Salvation Army in Chicago established the first NATIONAL DONUT DAY, a tradition created to support those suffering during the Depression and to honor the legacy of the Donut Lassies.
