On November 3, 2026, Fort Smith voters will decide whether the City should change from its current city administrator form of government to a mayor-council form of government.

The City has created VoteFortSmith.com, a dedicated informational website with answers to frequently asked questions about the City’s current form of government and the proposed mayor-council form of government.

At VoteFortSmith.com, residents can find information about:

· What a FOR or AGAINST vote means
· Fort Smith’s current city administrator form of government
· How the proposed mayor-council form of government would work
· The roles of the mayor and governing body under each form
· What would happen if voters approve the change
· When a change would take effect
· And more!

The site includes searchable FAQs, making it easy to find information about a specific topic or question. Residents can also submit a question directly to the City if it is not already addressed on the website.

You only need to register ONCE to be qualified for ALL random selections! Random selections are scheduled now through May, 2027.

Reminder: Online Utility Bill Payment Available to Residents

City of Fort Smith utility customers can continue to safely and securely pay their City utility bills online.

The City’s third-party payment systems used to process utility payments were not affected by the recent cybersecurity event.

Customers can make online payments anytime through the City’s online payment portal: https://payit.fortsmithar.gov/

Hosted by the Whitney Marsh Foundation, Whitney’s Race brings together runners, walkers, families and supporters to help raise awareness and support for pancreatic cancer. Participants can choose from a 5K, 10K or 1-Mile Kids Fun Run.

After the race, stick around for a family-friendly Halloween Festival featuring live music, food trucks, carnival games, pumpkin activities, face painting, vendors and a costume contest.

Whether you participate in the race or come out to enjoy the festival, it’s a great opportunity to spend the day with our community while supporting an important cause.

19-15-C1: 2017 SSA Remedial Measures, Sub-Basin MC06

PROJECT UPDATE
This Consent Decree-related project has been under construction since January and includes rehabilitating or replacing approximately 160 sanitary sewer manholes and 17,950 linear feet of 8-inch and 12-inch sanitary sewer line using conventional open-cut installation, pipe bursting, and cured-in-place pipe lining.

September Progress Report:
•995 linear feet (26%) of sewer mains completed by open-cut method
•11,200 linear feet (112%) of sewer mains completed by pipe bursting method
•4,050 linear feet (76%) of sewer service lines completed
•205 (71%) sewer service cleanouts completed
•65 (64% manholes replaced/rehabilitated

Design Engineer: Halff Associates, Inc.
Construction Contractor: Krapff-Reynolds Construction Co.
Estimated Completion Date: 2/5/2027
Estimated Project Cost: $9,096,780.50
Completed Cost to Date: $5,828,059.45
Overall Project Status: ON TRACK
