Users and visitors to the City’s Social Media Sites shall be notified that the intended purpose of the site is to serve as a means of communication between City departments and members of the public. Articles, posts and comments on the City’s social media site that contain any of the following forms of content shall not be allowed and shall be removed as soon as possible:

i. Content that promote

s, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, physical or mental disability or sexual orientation;
iii. Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity;
v. Information that may compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems;
vi. Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party;
vii. Comments in support of, or in opposition to, any political campaigns or ballot measures;
viii. Solicitation of commerce, including but not limited to advertising of any business, service, or product for sale or lease;
ix. Conduct in violation of any federal, state or local law;
x. Content that violates a legal ownership interest, such as a copyright or trademark of any party;
xi. Harassment or content which constitutes and/or facilitates stalking;
xii. Content which violates the right to privacy;
xiii. Repetitive content;
xv. Comments which may reasonably interfere with, inhibit, or compromise law enforcement investigations, police tactics, police responses to incidents and/or the safety of police staff and officers; or,
xvi. Posts or comments that contain any external links.

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month.

The Fort Smith Police Department recognizes this month as an opportunity to raise awareness, encourage compassion, and remind our community that help is available.

Our Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU) works to assist individuals experiencing mental health crises and connect people with appropriate resources and support. The unit is an important part of our ongoing commitment to serving our community with care, understanding, and compassion.

The Crisis Intervention Unit can be reached at 479-709-5144 or by email at [email protected]. These are non-emergency contact methods. If you or someone else is experiencing an immediate emergency, please call 911.

The 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is also available by calling or texting 988 for anyone experiencing a mental health or suicide-related crisis or who needs support for a loved one.

This September, we encourage everyone to remember: reaching out for help can make a difference, and no one has to face a crisis alone.

Members of the Fort Smith Police Department were proud to take part in today’s Fort Smith Car Show & Fire Truck Pull, benefiting Special Olympics Arkansas.

The annual event, hosted by the Law Enforcement Torch Run, brought teams together at Parrot Island Water Park to put their strength — and teamwork — to the test, all in support of Special Olympics athletes.

We’re grateful to everyone who participated, volunteered, donated, and came out to support this great cause. FSPD is always proud to stand behind Special Olympics Arkansas and the incredible athletes it serves.

This FREE, family-friendly event will feature:
