Today and throughout the week, Fort Scott’s finest are putting their skills to the test during their annual physical agility evaluations. 💪🚒

This isn’t just a workout—it’s a full-scale simulation of the demands they face on the fireground. Firefighters are climbing the 100’ truck, stretching 3” hose to a hydrant, performing rescue drags, and deploying ladders before making the climb. They’re also carrying high-rise packs up and down stairs multiple times and executing forcible entry—each task pushing strength, endurance, and precision. They must complete in under 10 minutes.

Every scenario is designed to mirror real-life
emergencies, ensuring our crews are ready to respond when seconds count. The grit and determination shown in these drills highlight the commitment it takes to serve and protect this community every single day.

Proud of the hard work being put in this week—stay safe and keep getting after it. 🔥👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

We have a chance for severe weather this evening.

As always this is just a prediction and weather is always changing.

So just be prepared for the potential of severe weather from 6-10pm. Even that could change.

Thunderstorms with a severe threat really ramp up for us after 5-6 pm starting on the KS and OK side then driving east. We do have an elevated tornado threat for the first couple hours, then mainly a wind and hail threat as they push east. Stay powered on with Paschal Air, Plumbing & Electric. Keeping homes comforatable through every season.

Wishing everyone a very safe and happy Easter !

🚨 OFFICIAL INCIDENT REPORT 🚨

Earlier today, officers responded to a highly suspicious Krispy Kreme box believed to contain a dozen glazed donuts.

Upon opening the box, officers were met with… broccoli, carrots, and other unidentified vegetables.

The scene was immediately secured and an investigation was launched into what is now being classified as a cruel and unusual prank.
Witnesses report visible confusion, disappointment, and at least one officer questioning their life choices.

At this time, no donuts have been recovered.

The Fire Department would like to formally state… we had nothing to do with this.

…but we are also not ruling them out as suspects. 🍩👀

Good information for county residents as this lets dispatch know it’s a controlled burn.

However. Remember for those who reside in the city limits you have to call the Fire department and request a burn permit. We do not allow open burning without fire department approval first. You must meet the requirements within the ordinance of open burning within the city.

Please remember: this is only a test. There is no emergency.
