The intent of Army Pregnancy Postpartum Physical Training (P3T) is to implement mandatory standardized Army-wide P3T. P3T is aligned with exercise recommendations from the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. Policies released in recent years strengthen the ability for P3T to meet approved Army standards. Commanders are respo
nsible for ex*****on according to the implementation standards set forth in the APHC TG 255 series, Pregnancy Postpartum Physical Training Manuals. Standardized ex*****on progresses as leaders are educated regarding P3T, new responsibilities established, and adequate personnel trained to fill the needs for P3T. USA PHC: TG 255A

The purpose of the Pregnancy/Postpartum Physical Training (PPPT) Program is to assist pregnant and postpartum Soldiers in maintaining health and fitness throughout pregnancy and to be successfully integrated back into unit fitness training programs. The P3T Program is designed to promote —
• Better transition back to unit physical readiness training (PRT).
• Higher Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) pass rates and scores.
• Improvement in meeting Army Regulation 600-9 height/weight standards.
• Reduction of physical discomforts and stress during pregnancy. Successful participation in this P3T Program will meet the unique physical fitness training needs of pregnant and postpartum Soldiers. This will enhance the Soldier’s ability to meet the physical requirements for readiness after pregnancy.
