The City of Fort Pierce Police Community Advisory Committee will hold its next meeting on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. in the second floor conference of Fort Pierce City Hall.

This is an opportunity for residents to engage with the committee members as they meet with FPPD to discuss community concerns, share ideas, and help strengthen the partnership between law enforcement and the community we serve.

We encourage all interested residents to attend and be part of the conversation as we work together to keep Fort Pierce a safe and thriving community.

UPDATE: 1:55pm - the turnpike entrance is now open.

TRAFFIC ALERT:
The Turnpike entrance at Okeechobee Road in Fort Pierce is closed due to FHP working a traffic crash near the area. Please plan to take alternate routes to avoid delays.

Yesterday, The Fort Pierce Police Department attended a 25th Anniversary September 11th Memorial ceremony, hosted by Holy Family Catholic Church of Port St. Lucie.

The ceremony started with Colors presented by a joint agency Honor Guard team, made up by the Fort Pierce Police Department, Port St. Lucie Police Department, St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Lucie County Fire District.

A joint agency Police Explorer team was also present as door greeters for the attending guests and church members.

Today, we recognize and thank the hardworking men and women who keep our community, our city and our country moving forward. Whether you’re working today or enjoying a well-deserved day off, we hope you have a safe and happy Labor Day.

As a reminder, the Fort Pierce Police Department’s administration offices will be closed Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day and will reopen during normal business hours on Tuesday, September 8.

On September 2, 2026, Officers Memon, Rios, Wilcox, and Long responded to the South Causeway Bridge, where a woman experiencing a mental health crisis was sitting on the outer railing of the bridge facing the water, placing her life in immediate danger.

Officers Wilcox and Rios calmly engaged the woman and worked to keep her focused while assessing the situation. When immediate intervention became necessary, Officers Long and Memon acted decisively, pulling her from the railing and to safety.

All four officers then worked together to protect the woman from further harm and ensure she received appropriate care.

Their teamwork, compassion, and decisive action directly saved a life and exemplified their commitment to protecting our community.

FPPD INVESTIGATES NORTH 16TH STREET HOMICIDE

On September 3, 2026, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Fort Pierce Police officers responded to the 119 North 16th Street after hearing multiple gunshots. Officers located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Lawnwood Medical Center, where he later died.

The preliminary investigation indicates the victim became involved in a verbal altercation with several individuals before shots were fired. A fi***rm was located near the victim, and multiple shell casings were recovered from the scene. Witnesses reported seeing three masked males flee the area on foot following the shooting.

Detectives are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. This investigation remains active and ongoing.
