Beau Genelin, Fort Payne City Councilman

Beau Genelin, Fort Payne City Councilman This page is intended to keep FP citizens informed. I have a deep-rooted connection to Fort Payne. I’m not just someone who grew up here, I’m a boomerang.

Posts and opinions are my own and don’t represent the official position of the City of Fort Payne or the city council as a whole. After leaving to pursue an education and build my career in marketing and communications leadership, my wife and I chose to return to raise our children in the place we love. Fort Payne is truly the best place to raise a family. Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachi

ans, between Lookout and Sand Mountain, we have an incredible public school system, beautiful natural resources, and a charming downtown. But what truly sets this city apart is its people—people who treat you like family, no matter how long you’ve been away. I’m running for City Council because I believe in the future of Fort Payne. My campaign will focus on maintaining a family-centered community, honoring our town’s rich traditions, while embracing fresh ideas to ensure we thrive. I’m passionate about supporting our local businesses, boosting tourism, and creating a safe environment for our families. This is home, y’all. And I’m ready to put in the work.

🌱So proud to support smart growth for Fort Payne.

Tonight, we were presented with a great opportunity, and we were ready to meet the moment.

This is exactly what balanced growth looks like in action: investing in future jobs, boosting our local economy, and making sure we don’t outpace our infrastructure. All while protecting what makes this place so special.

Thank you, Phos Window, for choosing to grow in Fort Payne.

The Fort Payne City Council voted Tuesday to approve a tax incentive plan connected to an expansion at PHŌS Window in Fort Payne.

Tuesday evening will be a busy one. Join us at 5:30pm in the Council Chambers as we work through a full agenda.

Economic growth should never require us to lower our standards for public health. We are capable of doing both.

At first blush, it’s easy to assume federal standards provide enough protection. But recent reporting about carpet manufacturing in Georgia and the downstream impact on drinking water in NE Alabama shows why sometimes we need better safeguards.

SB71 is scheduled to go to the Alabama House floor on Tuesday. The American Cancer Society has raised concerns about the bill’s potential public health implications.

There are amendments available that would significantly reduce these risks while still supporting economic development.

The Alabama House Agriculture and Forestry Committee advanced a bill limiting state environmental rules to federal standards.

Heads up, fellow parents and caregivers: the 45th Street crossing near the schools is closed this afternoon. This will be a challenge for us at pickup today.

For those of us who do this every day, this is a real disruption. That said, we are part of the same community that came together for what was the longest and arguably best Christmas parade, despite train challenges this weekend. With patience and flexibility, we can handle this too.

It’s going to take extra time. Please use alternate routes to cross the tracks today.

Counting my blessings and feeling incredibly grateful.

For my family. For friends and neighbors who feel like family. For good health. For all of you.

For work that keeps food on the table. For a church that keeps me grounded. For this community and the simple things that make living in Fort Payne so sweet.

For the chance to serve the place I love. May I never forget what a privilege it truly is.

For all of it, I’m grateful. Happy Thanksgiving. Hallelujah. Pass the dressing.
