DeKalb County Amateur Radio Club

Welcome to the exciting world of Amateur Radio! This well-established and organized hobby consists of people from various backgrounds and age groups without regard to territorial boundaries. We have the privilege to earn a license granted from the Federal Communications Commission to utilize the airwaves for many hours of experimentation, public service and r

ag chew enjoyment. The DeKalb County Amateur Radio Club (DCARC) welcomes you to join our club. Active for over 25 years, here are just a few of our club’s features. The DCARC maintained repeater, W4GBR can be heard on the frequency of 147.270MHz with at +600KHz input. The repeater is located on Lookout Mountain above Fort Payne and has three satellite receivers located around the county. . To gain repeater access a PL tone of 100Hz is required. The repeater has many other features! The club sponsors a weekly session of the Alabama Emergency Net Zulu (AENZ) training net on the club repeater at 7:30 PM each Monday. On Wednesday at 8:00pm the South East Linked Repeater Net, linking many repeaters all over the southeast. At 6:30pm each Thursday, the DeKalb County participates in the emergency communications group net and the check-ins are relayed to the North Alabama SKYWARN weather training net at 8pm. On Saturday night at 8, we host This Week In Amateur Radio, you’re invited to come check in to all our nets. In June of each year the club participates in a national amateur radio event called Field Day. Field Day is a emergency preparedness drill and contest to test our setup, communication and duration skills that last 24 hours, and we have lots of fun. The club participates in other local activities such as Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) for the Boy Scouts. We also hold a swap meet that brings out electronic equipment for buy, sell or trade. Monthly club meetings are held each 4th Tuesday of the month at the Dekalb County Commisioners Chambers in the Activities Building on 2nd Street and Grand Ave South and you are invited to attend. Chow King is the usual meeting location on Wednesdays at 11am for an informal luncheon. The club meeting is a good place to meet local amateurs and keep up with and participate in club activities. The Club annually participates in several national and community wide events. Calendar year dues are $12.00, and family membership is also available. Please make checks payable to the DeKalb County Amateur Radio Club and mail correspondence to the address below. Club certificates are available to first time members through the Club secretary. For additional information feel free to contact the address below. Welcome to amateur radio and hope to hear you on the air soon! DeKalb County Amateur Radio Club
