As our very full fall event calendar approaches, we're thrilled to share that Maurey Roberts has joined our team as the new manager of sales and visitor services. With an extensive background in live music production, he brings a unique and much appreciated skillset to the role.

A native of Fort Payne, Roberts earned a degree in Recording Industry Management from Middle Tennessee State University. He began his career as a studio and live sound engineer in 2007.

From 2013 until 2021, he served as Special Events and Venue Manager for the City of Fort Payne where he managed the DeKalb Theatre, Coal and Iron Building, and the City Auditorium. He also served as Boom Days Chairman during his tenure with the City of Fort Payne. Roberts completed his Master of Music in Music Business and Entertainment Industries from the University of Miami in 2022.

“It’s an exciting time for our area. We’re seeing continued interest and growth in our beautiful hometown, both on Main Street and in our natural wonders," Roberts said. "I look forward to building upon all the work preceding me at the Canyon Center. I'm excited to work with community members and partner organizations to continue the Center's legacy of enriching cultural programming and highlighting the beauty and importance of Little River Canyon.”

Join us and the DeKalb County 4-H tomorrow at the Little River Canyon Center for the Great Southeast Pollinator Census!

🐝🌼 Become a Citizen Scientist with 4-H! 🌼🦋

Join DeKalb County 4-H and the JSU Field School for The Great Southeast Pollinator Census on Friday, August 21, from 10:30–11:30 a.m. at the Little River Canyon Center!

Youth ages 5–18 are invited to participate in this exciting hands-on event where you'll become a citizen scientist by helping count bees, butterflies, and other important pollinators. Your observations will contribute to a regional research effort while you learn why pollinators are essential to our environment and food supply.

This is a fun opportunity to explore nature, develop science skills, and make a real impact!

⏰ Time: 10:30–11:30 a.m.
📍 Location: Little River Canyon Center
👧🧒 Ages: 5–18

🌲 Coming home to the canyon.

Fort Payne native T.C. McLemore has returned to one of Northeast Alabama’s most treasured places as director of Jacksonville State University’s Little River Canyon Center.
