The application to attend Ignite by 4-H 2027 is now open! 🌟🚀🍀

Hosted by National 4-H Council, Ignite brings together teens from all across the U.S. to Washington D.C. to immerse themselves in hands-on workshops, experiences and activities in their desired program area. 4-H'ers can choose from agriscience, animal science, community accelerators, CWF @ Ignite, STEM or healthy living.

With the addition of public speaking, career and life readiness and presentation workshops, participants will apply what they learn to their own life and take a step toward becoming .

Ignite 2027 will be held March 17-21 and is open to senior level 4-H members (ages 14-18). The deadline to apply closes September 28, 2026. If interested in applying or to learn more, speak to your county 4-H agent and visit www.aces.edu/4h/ignite-by-4-h/

Cherokee County 4-H & DeKalb County 4-H are teaming up for another great year of Livestock Club! 🌱

Sand Mountain & Beyond is an Alabama 4-H career exploration program designed to introduce young people to the many career opportunities available right here in Northeast Alabama. Today, our DeKalb County 4-H’ers became citizen scientists at the Little River Canyon Center as we participated in the Great Southeast Pollinator Census! 🔎🐝
Our 4-H’ers spent time observing, identifying, and counting pollinators while learning more about the important role these tiny creatures play in our environment. From bees and butterflies to flies and other insects, every count helps scientists better understand pollinator populations across the Southeast. 🌎💚
The best part? You can join us! The Great Southeast Pollinator Census is open to everyone—no science or insect expertise required! All you need is a blooming plant, 15 minutes, and a willingness to observe and count. 🙌
📅 The 2026 census is happening August 21–22, so grab the kids, head outside, and become a citizen scientist!

🐝🌼 Become a Citizen Scientist with 4-H! 🌼🦋

Join DeKalb County 4-H and the JSU Field School for The Great Southeast Pollinator Census on Friday, August 21, from 10:30–11:30 a.m. at the Little River Canyon Center!

Youth ages 5–18 are invited to participate in this exciting hands-on event where you'll become a citizen scientist by helping count bees, butterflies, and other important pollinators. Your observations will contribute to a regional research effort while you learn why pollinators are essential to our environment and food supply.

This is a fun opportunity to explore nature, develop science skills, and make a real impact!
