For this week’s Fiscal Friday, we are taking a closer look at our district’s tax roll history and tax rate trends. The bottom line is that taxpayers are saving money.

• For FY27, the proposed total millage rate drops to 5.271 mills, down from 5.319 mills in FY26. This marks the 12th time in the last 13 years that the school district’s millage rate has decreased.
• Since 2015, when the total millage rate stood at 7.416 mills, the school tax rate charged by the district has fallen by 2.145 mills, a 28.9% reduction.
• At the FY27 rate of 5.271 mills (down from 7.416 mills in 2015), homeowners pay $214.50 less per $100,000 of taxable value than they did a decade ago.
• When total county property values rise, lowering the millage rate prevents tax bills from surging as fast as market values increase, cushioning homeowners from rapid increases.
