Please help us congratulate and welcome our newest firefighters Joel Arias, Matthew Christiansen, and Janiel Peguero-Rodriguez on successfully completing their 6-week orientation!

Our Class 2601 firefighters have spent the past several weeks learning our department’s operations, procedures, equipment, and expectations as they prepare to serve our community. Their dedication, hard work, and commitment have been on full display throughout this process.

This Sunday will officially start their shift assignments and join our crews in providing emergency services to our community.

We are excited to welcome them to the Iona McGregor Fire District family and look forward to watching them grow in their careers.

This morning, Fort Myers Beach Crews along with Iona McGregor Fire District and South Trail Fire Protection & Rescue Service District worked an extrication/entrapment call were an individual fell and sustained injuries on a barge. The drone was launched through the incident which provided on scene visuals in minutes to responding companies and Lee Control.

The patient was transported, with injuries.

The Iona McGregor Fire District recently hosted a CPR and First Aid class for a local Boy Scout troop. The Scouts learned important emergency response skills while working toward one of their badges.

Great job, Scouts, and thank you for spending the day with us!

A special thank-you to our instructors Captain Barber, Firefighter Caskey, Fire Inspector Van Dyck, & Community Relations Specialist Contreras for sharing their knowledge and helping build a safer, more prepared community.

Engine company operations remain a critical foundation of the fire service, and our new hire recruits continue building those fundamentals through hands-on training evolutions.

This week’s orientation focus included turnout gear drills, gloved mask-ups, proper nozzle selection and flow, hose line management, flowing and moving, mid-rise and high-rise tactics, and hose deployment operations.

Thank you to the City of Fort Myers and the City of Cape Coral for the use of your facilities.

Training with purpose. Operating with discipline.

In honor of Memorial Day, six of our members joined CrossFit Salvation in Cape Coral to complete the murph workout, a challenging tribute to Lt. Michael P. Murphy, a United States Navy SEAL who was killed in action in Afghanistan during Operation Red Wings in 2005 and posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his extraordinary courage and selfless leadership.

The workout serves as more than a physical challenge, it is a way to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

As firefighters, we understand the values of duty, teamwork, sacrifice, and perseverance, making workouts like this especially meaningful. We are grateful to CrossFit Salvation Cape Coral for the invitation, hospitality, and opportunity to come together in remembrance, camaraderie, and purpose.
