Starting June 1, 2026, the Sherman Soccer Complex soccer fields will undergo temporary closure for essential maintenance and recovery after the current season. This maintenance work is crucial to ensure that the fields are in their best possible condition for the upcoming soccer season.

Great having Andrew Shipley this morning for a presentation helping our residents stay informed and aware as we approach hurricane season!

Hurricane season starts in just 12 days, and this morning I had the opportunity to speak with residents at Gateway Services CDD about what to expect this season and how to prepare before a storm ever threatens Southwest Florida.

We talked about the impacts from recent hurricanes, including storm surge, flooding, tornadoes, and long-lasting power outages โ€” along with the lessons learned from storms like Ian, Idalia, Helene, and Milton.

The biggest takeaway: preparation now can make a huge difference later. Know your evacuation zone, review your hurricane plan, and make sure your emergency kit is ready before June 1st.

Tomorrow, NOAA and the National Hurricane Center will release their official 2026 Hurricane Season Forecast in Lakeland, and the WINK Weather Authority will be there with complete coverage. Stay tuned.
