FGCU PD We are here for you, please feel free to connect with any of our officers or staff members that you encounter on campus or call, 590-1900.

FGCU’s continued growth continues to bring many exciting changes. This growth challenges each of us as our vibrant campus continues to take shape. The men and women of the University Police Department (UPD) are proud to play a vital role in this future. Our goal is to work with our FGCU community to provide a safe and secure environment that allows us to achieve our academic goals and to enjoy the

university experience. This means offering a variety of crime prevention efforts, insuring safety for both vehicle and pedestrian traffic, assisting in coordinating special events, and providing reliable high quality professional service at all times. We strive to surpass your highest expectations, but your participation is needed. Some of the things that you can do to assist in making our campus as safe and friendly as possible are as follows:
• Remove the opportunity for criminals by locking your campus residence
• Remove valuables and securing your car
• Utilizing the shuttle service or requesting our after hours es**rt service if traveling alone
• Obeying traffic laws by not speeding, observing stop signs and traffic signals
• Driving cautiously and defensively
• Acting responsibly and being respectful to others

We are here for you, please feel free to connect with any of our officers or staff members that you encounter on campus or call, 590-1900; our website also contains helpful resources. I believe that together, we can make our FGCU experience a positive and enjoyable one. University Police Dept.

🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️🚗Crosswalk Safety Reminder🚗🚴‍♂️🚶‍♀️

With 5 busy crosswalks on our main campus, it’s important that everyone does their part to slow down and stay alert. Whether you're walking, biking, scootering, skateboarding or driving, crosswalk safety is a shared responsibility. A few seconds of awareness can prevent a serious accident.

The SoVi boardwalk crosswalks have built-in motion sensors that activate flashing lights when someone approaches. If you see the lights flashing, it means someone may be approaching or already using the crosswalk - be prepared to slow down and yield.

🔶 Drivers: Be alert and prepared to yield to pedestrians and bicyclists in crosswalks. Slow down as you approach crosswalks and watch for people stepping off the curb or approaching on bikes.

🔶 Bicyclists: Slow down when approaching crosswalks to help ensure drivers see you before entering the crossing. Make eye contact with drivers when possible and ride predictably.

🔶 Pedestrians: Use designated crosswalks, stay alert, and avoid distractions like phones so you can watch for approaching traffic.

⚠️ Everyone shares the responsibility - slow down at crosswalks.

Slow down. Yield. Make eye contact. Look out for each other.
