Fort Mitchell is a quaint small town, in Northern Kentucky, that acts as a bedroom community for the metropolitan Cincinnati area. The City is held in high esteem due to its stunning homes, exquisite country club, serene parks, impressively low crime rate, top ranked public and private schools, an exceptional recreation program, and home to Vent Haven Museum, the only ventriloquism museum in the

world. Being near Cincinnati, Fort Mitchell plays off those nearby conveniences to provide business growth, prestige, and development opportunities. Fort Mitchell has continued a trend of increasing revenues by hundreds of thousands of dollars per year, reducing expenses by hundreds of thousands of dollars per year, and retiring long term liabilities. From a financial perspective, this makes the City one of the strongest communities in the region – all without raising taxes! The Fort Mitchell Fire Department (firefighters, volunteers, interns, students) recently participated in “Firefighter Confidence Training" inside a 53-foot, 3-level maze and entanglement prop parked outside of the city building.

According to Recruit Coordinator Jeff Groneck this search and rescue simulator can be an intense challenge for inexperienced and less flexible veteran firefighters navigating through restricted openings, partial collapses, debris, and entanglement obstacles. Building confidence and skills is essential to prepare firefighters to get out of bad situations which may be encountered while performing interior operations. This training is first conducted with good visibility, communications and guidance, eventually progressing to evolutions which add simulated smoke, darkness, and communication issues to the challenge. You can never train too hard for a job where people’s lives, including your own, are on the line.

Oh what a night! Thanks to everyone who came out to Cincinnati Observatory at the Park last night at General Ormsby Mitchel Park.
