National Police Week gives us an opportunity to publicly recognize the brave men and women of law enforcement, but our appreciation for them goes far beyond just one week each year.

As firefighters, we stand beside our law enforcement brothers and sisters every day. We witness firsthand their dedication, sacrifice, courage, and commitment to protecting our communities — often under the most difficult circumstances.

This week, we especially honor the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and remember the families, friends, and fellow officers who continue to carry their memory forward. Their service will never be forgotten.

To every officer serving today, or those who have ever served: thank you for your partnership, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the people you serve. We appreciate and recognize you not just this week, but every single day of the year.

From all of us at the Fort Mitchell Fire Department, thank you for all that you do. 🇺🇸🚓🚒

The Fort Mitchell Fire Department will be out today conducting routine fire hydrant testing in the city of Fort Mitchell.

During this process, some residents may notice temporary discoloration in their water. If this happens, don’t worry — simply run your cold water for a few minutes and it should clear up quickly.

We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure our hydrants are functioning properly and ready to use when we need them.

It is with a heavy heart that the Fort Mitchell Fire Department announces the passing of retired Captain, William E “Bill “Brown on November 25, 2025. Bill Brown began his Fire service career with the Ryland Heights volunteer Fire Department at the young age of 16. After moving to Fort Mitchell, Bill joined the South Fort Mitchell Fire Department in August 1966. Bill always said that his passion for the fire service was his reason for moving to Fort Mitchell. In 1974 Bill was promoted to Captain where he remained until his retirement in 1982. Captain Brown served on many committees during his tenure on the department, including the Greater Cincinnati Regional Arson Fire Investigators Association and the Kenton Boone firefighters educational association. Captain Brown’s name was recently added to the Fort Mitchell wall of honor during a ceremony held at the City Building. Bill‘s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Linnemann funeral home in Erlanger Kentucky.
