JBLM CYS YTL Official page for Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) Child, Youth, and School Services (CYSS) Youth Technology Labs (YTL). What is a Youth Technology Lab?

A Youth Technology Lab (YTL) YTL is a room in a School-Age or Youth facility that includes hardware, software, print and electronic curriculum designed for children and youth between the ages of 6-18 years. By itself this room is an unimpressive collection of metal, plastic, glass and paper, but combined with children, youth, staff and their collective creativity, the YTL becomes a unique place wh

ere children and youth learn about technology and how it is integrated into the world around them. Why does the Army Child and Youth Services have technology labs for children and youth? The answer is that Army Child and Youth Service’s (CYS) Youth Technology Labs (YTL) support soldier readiness and well-being of military families by functioning as a safe, secure and age appropriate place where children and youth can engage in technology-based activities and programs, thereby reducing lost duty time due to lack of child/youth supervision. CYS Youth Technology Lab Principles:
1. The Youth Technology Lab is an integral part of the School-Age and Youth Programs Life Skills, Citizenship and Leadership Service Area.
2. The Youth Technology Lab offers a variety of enrichments in all of the Four Service Areas for School-Age and Youth Programs by integrating technology into the required baseline programming at each installation.
