308th Brigade Support Battalion The 308th Brigade Support Battalion is a U.S. Army government organization located at Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington.

The 308th Brigade Support Battalion was first constituted on 23 February 1943 in the Army of the United States as the 308th Quartermaster Sterilization Battalion and activated on 26 April 1943 at Vancouver Barracks, Washington. The Battalion was broken up 1 August 1943 and its elements reorganized and redesignated. Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment was reorganized and redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 308th Quartermaster Fumigation and Bath Battalion. Companies A, B, C, and D were reorganized and redesignated as as the 855th, 856th, 857th, and 858th Quartermaster Fumigation and Bath Companies, respectively, each thereafter having a separate lineage. Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 308th Quartermaster Fumigation and Bath Battalion was reorganized and redesignated again on 1 November 1943 as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 308th Quartermaster Battalion. During the Second World War, the Battalion participated in 5 campaigns: Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe. At the end of the Second World War, the Battalion was inactivated on 25 November 1945 in Austria. The Battalion was redesignated on 14 September 1961 as the 308th Quartermaster Battalion and allotted to the Regular Army with its organic elements concurrently constituted. It was activated on 25 September 1961 in Germany. It was reorganized and redesignated on 2 August 1965 as the 308th Supply and Service Battalion and inactivated on 26 July 1971 in Germany. The unit was redesignated on 15 June 2005 as the 308th Support Battalion and activated on 18 July 2007 at Fort Lewis, Washington. There it became the brigade support battalion for the reorganized and redesignated modular 17th Fires Brigade, part of I Corps.

WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA REMINDER: Come join us for the ninth year of Wreaths Across America at the Camp Lewis Cemetery Dec. 14 here at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Wreaths will be placed on the nearly 1,000 headstones of the veterans and family members buried there.

We currently have 683 wreaths sponsored, but still need over 400 wreaths to have every headstone recognized and honored with a wreath.

Wreaths Across America relies on your generosity as sponsors. HOLIDAY GATE HOURS: Joint Base Lewis-McChord will be reducing the number of gates operating during the Thanksgiving holiday cycle from Nov. 28 to Dec. 1.

• Beginning at 4 a.m. Nov. 28 through 4 a.m. Dec. 1, the Logistics Center gate, RCF Gate, Transmission Line, Integrity, and DuPont Gate will be closed.
• DuPont Gate, Closed
• Integrity Gate, Closed
• Barnes Gate, on McChord Field, will operate 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Liberty Gate, Madigan Gate, East Gate, Lewis North Gate and McChord Main Gate will remain open 24 hours.

Tis' the Season! The America's First Corps Band's holiday concerts start at Carey Theater, on Lewis Main, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. with “Sounds of Winter.” The concert is free and open to anyone with access to Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

There are two other free concerts in Auburn and Olympia that are open to the general public. For ticketing information, visit the band’s events page at https://www.facebook.com/AmericasFirstCorpsBand for each concert date, and we'll see you there!
