787th OD CO (EOD) has kept the gas pedal down and continues to get after it in our Modernization window. Over the last few months, 787th remained engaged with the R2E turn-in, change of command inventories, and the Company CoC where CPT Savannah B. Faught relinquished command of 787th to the new company Commander, CPT Jarrod A. Almond.

787th has also assumed the Primary VIP mission, provided a Team Leader for the White House rotation, sent Soldiers to the ATF Post Blast Course, FBI Regional C-IED meeting, FBI NIEF course instructed by Dr. Kirk Yeager, conducted an M17 range, and participated in 1st SFG(A) Advanced Demo Techniques course.

The company participated in Operation Cascade Defense and integrated with DES, USAF Special Agents, and the FBI’s SABT on first responder interoperability during a full scale simulated downed UAS on McChord.

On to the good news, we have been able to recognize and promote some of our Soldiers for their hard work!

PFC Jocelyn Ortega was recognized with an early promotion to Specialist, received an AAM for her hard-work during inventories/R2E turn-in, and was also given a coin from CW2 Munoz for being an all around rockstar!

Sergeant Nathaniel Han was promoted to Staff Sergeant, where his wife Jisoo was able to pin his rank! Congratulations on the well earned promotion SSG Han!

SSG Keith Gentile was also recognized with a coin from CSM Stephen Cunningham from 3D OD BN (EOD) for his participation in 20th CBRNE Best Squad Competition, where he also received an AAM for his squad placing 2nd overall!

SSG Keith Gentile, SSG Jack Herrmann, and SGT Dylan Hart were also presented with their Team Leader Certification certificates!

We welcomed to the team our new S1 CPL Michaeljohn Paguirigan, who was promoted to CPL after his BLC graduation in which he earned Commandant’s List!

787th conducted a Hail and Farewell to welcome our new Commander CPT Jarrod Almond, new platoon sergeant SFC Carl Yob, and new EOD team member SPC Jacob Porad to the team. We were able to also say our goodbyes to outgoing Commander CPT Savannah Faught and outgoing platoon sergeant SFC Adam Ritter who both were instrumental to the companies success. We wish them nothing but the best with their follow-on assignments!

SSG Ian Smith, SSG Jack Herrmann, and 1LT Luke Gualtieri were also the leads in raising over $9,000 for the EOD Wounded Warrior foundation in honor of 1LT Zachary Galli during the 1K Memorial Challenge!

To say we have been busy is an understatement. As always, the credit goes to our Soldiers for making it happen and being resilient under pressure. We seem to always live in a state of chaos and our Soldiers continue to rise to the occasion!

Over the last few months, 787th has remained steadily engaged during our modernization window conducting new equipment fielding, troop schools, range clearance operations, Code H disposal, recruiting events, and CoC inventories.

For JBLM Spring Cleanup week, the company was tasked with disposing of unexploded ordnance located in the JBLM impact area. During the week, the company disposed of approximately 750lbs of N.E.W., cleared 22 miles of route for the Leschi Walk, and helped reduce the Code H being stored in the JBLM ASP.

787th also participated in the Armed Forces Display on JBLM and sent one of our Team Leaders (SSG Keith Gentile) to represent the Company, 3D OD BN (EOD), and 71st OD GP (EOD) in the Best Squad Competition, where his squad placed second! SSG Gentile was notified last minute due to unforeseen circumstances, and still represented us to the fullest.

We would also like to congratulate another one of our Team Leaders, SSG Michael Erskine, on continuing his education and receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Homeland Security!

Last but not least, we were able to recognize the hard work of one of our Team Leaders by promoting him from Sergeant to Staff Sergeant. Congratulations SSG Ethan Bell, your hard work and drive does not go unnoticed!

At the end of the day, all of our Soldiers deserve the credit for what they do! They continue to grind and improve day by day. They are by far the companies most valuable asset!

Interoperability with 9th Chemical Company - Technical Es**rt on a 4.2 inch mortar that was located during spring cleanup on JBLM.

The mortar ended up with an FS smoke filler but it gave our company the ability to work with CARA and begin a relationship with 9th to perfect both companies TTPs in regards to chemical munitions.

787th participated in numerous events over the last few weeks. The company had Soldiers compete in the 3D OD BN (EOD) golf scramble and also attend the Pacific Northwest EOD Memorial Ball, which brought together current/former Bomb Technicians, family, and friends to celebrate/remember the lives of our fallen. We were graced with words of wisdom from our guest speaker, Mary Dague!

787th continued with training and conducted a multi-day platoon FTX focused on expeditionary operations, C-IED, UXO, chemical munitions, and download procedures. Thank you to 1-94 FAR for the training support for the HIMAR download scenarios!

While 787th conducted the FTX, a few Soldiers executed support to the SteilCon event at Pioneer Middle School in DuPont. Led by 1LT Harrison Wiltrout and SPC Dylan Attaway, the unit strengthened the bond between the military and local DuPont civilians. With a successful integration into the SteilCon event, the Unit was able to highlight the equipment and capabilities of Army EOD to over 400 students and 30 JROTC Cadets.

The company also hosted the 71st OD GP (EOD) Commander, COL Brennan Fitzgerald, who presented SSG Keith Gentile, SGT Bradyn Fortini, SGT Dylan Hart, and SGT Samuel Wilcox a coin for excellence. SGT(P) Ethan Bell also received a coin for excellence from Lieutenant General Xavier T. Brunson, the First Corps and JBLM Commanding General.

787th finished off the week with a company morale event hiking up to Lena Lake. It consisted of a 6 mile hike and finished with a company lunch prior to starting the weekend.

The company remains consistently busy and engaged trying to better ourselves and the community. We currently have two Soldiers conducting OC/T duties for 707th’s NTC rotation at Fort Irwin and the rest of us are postured to execute JBLMs Spring Cleanup Week. The company will be engaged doing range clearance and disposal of UXOs located in the impact area to reduce the threat to JBLM Soldiers and civilians. We also had one of our Soldiers, SSG Julian Aguirre, graduate ALC! All the credit goes to our Soldiers who continue to put the mission first and get after it!

787th remains steady getting after opportunity training while still maintaining operational readiness to our assigned missions.

Soldiers from 3rd Platoon organized multiple training events to improve the platoons mobility and lethality, while also building enduring relationships on JBLM. They planned and executed a mountaineering trip with assistance from the Northwest Adventure Center, conducted training on an obstacle course, and coordinated with members from the 1st SFG(A) to conduct POI during the platoons LFX.

1st and 2nd Platoon conducted range walks and marked locations for the companies upcoming range clearance during the Spring Cleanup on JBLM.

2nd Platoon executed the EOD Hiring Days where they coordinated with the SORB recruiters to garner interest for EOD recruitment. SORB recruiters and the PLT set up an educational display at JBLMs main PX and answered questions from interested parties.

The company participated in the 555th Engineer Brigade SAAPM 4K Run/Walk. The month of April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM), focused on creating the appropriate culture to eliminate sexual assault and requiring a personal commitment from all Service members. 787th remains committed to the Army’s SHARP and EO programs by maintaining a zero tolerance culture. “Change Through Unity: Empower. Protect. Prevent.”

On to our favorite part- highlighting the achievements of our Soldiers. This month we had the pleasure to conduct promotions for three of our Soldiers! SSG Jack Herrmann, SSG Ian Smith, and CPL Jordan Corliss. These Soldiers have been exceptional and continue to be assets to the company. Huge congratulations are in order for CPL Corliss for also graduating BLC and progressing in her career!

We were also able to drop off an Infant Bomb Disposal Toolbox for SGT Larry Walker and his family!

787th continues to be committed to training, even outside of our training window. The drive of our Soldiers to better themselves and the organization remain one of the top priorities!

Over the last two months the company has continued to stay busy and test our skills during training. With us being on the Primary/Alternate VIPPSA mission for two months, it felt good to get back after our traditional EOD mission.

The company conducted a week long validation exercise for our teams to ensure we stay sharp while on our PTDO mission. Each team conducted UAS, UXO, TL Down, CONUS IED, thermite burn, and lodged projectile during the ranges. The teams also produced a TECHINT report that was sent to TECHDIV for feedback, as well as conducted EOD team capability briefs to multiple outside entities on JBLM.

We also participated in Ravens Challenge on JBLM with 5x three man teams and supplemented a team member for one of the NG EOD teams. This event was a huge success as our teams worked together with local bomb squads to have better interoperability between LE and the military.

SSG Daniel Kordich, SSG Michael Pitman, and SGT Samuel Wilcox also did an excellent job teaching our Airforce partners UXO safety and continued to build on the relationship from the previous briefs already conducted.

SPC Dylan Attaway and SPC Eric Patton also earned an Army Achievement Medal for their hard work during the VIPPSA mission!

787th also welcomed another little one to our family! Akira Mariah Walker was born on 12 March at 1313 weighing in at 5lbs 14ozs. Congratulations to our CBRN NCO SGT Larry Walker and wife Angelin! Both baby and momma are healthy and doing well!

These last two months have been packed with events! Our Soldiers continue to get after it and make a positive difference in the community. Continue with the hard work Sasquatches! It does not go unnoticed.

The last couple of weeks have been filled with various activities for 787th. We finished our secondary VIPPSA mission and are finally getting the company back together after two longs months of traveling ISO the United States Secret Service.

We had a team compete in the 3d OD BN (EOD) Team of the year, Soldiers give UXO briefs to increase the knowledge of our fellow Air Force counterparts, and got back to the basics by conducting Ordnance of the Week briefs / Team Leader certification training.

We had a lot of Soldier recognition as well. We promoted four of our own (SSG Julian Aguirre / SSG Gabriel Cicero / SGT Bradyn Fortini / SGT Zachary Harris), received three Team Leader Certifications for SGT Ethan Bell, SSG Michael Pitman, and SSG Michael Erskine, and two certification of achievements for SGT Ethan Bell / SGT Nathaniel Han for their performance during the ToY.

We also said goodbye to one of our best SNCOs after serving his country for 20 years. Congratulations SFC Steve McNeil on your well earned retirement, you have left a lasting impact on us all!

Our Soldiers continue to grind by putting in the work day in and day out. Keep after it Sasquatches! Your work does not go unnoticed!

This week SGT Ethan Bell and SGT Nathaniel Han from 787th OD CO (EOD) competed in the 3D OD (EOD) BN Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team of the Year competition. They completed an ACFT in full uniform, a Stress Shoot with SST Tasks, a ruck, and 21 full spectrum EOD training lanes.

It was an extremely close competition with our team finishing in second place. Huge congratulations to 53d OD CO (EOD) SSG Corey Ver Doorn and SGT George Wang, way to compete!

We are super proud of our team and the mental/physical toughness they showed during the competition! Way to represent the Company and showcase your desire to be the best!

Over the last month, 787th has been steadily busy with their primary mission of conducting VIPs for POTUS, VPOTUS, FLOTUS, and presidential candidates. Our Soldiers have been all over the place conducting this little known EOD mission and have worked hand in hand with the United States Secret Service.

During the chaos of conducting these VIPs, the company still remains ready for our PTDO mission should we be needed. The company has completed both SRP I and SRP II, conducted the ACFT, and qualified on the M4 weapons system.

While we have been busy, we still would like to recognize some of our Soldiers for the great things that they accomplish. SSG Ben Mason received his Team Leader certification (huge milestone in EOD) and re-enlisted to serve six more years in the military. Keep up the grind!

We would also like to recognize SSG Tristan Wolford in his personal accomplishment to pursue a higher education. SSG Wolford graduated with his Master’s Degree in Management with a GPA of over 3.97! Congratulations on your journey!

On a sad note, the company said goodbye to two of our own! Both SSG Lewis Brower and CPL Aries Schwartz have elected to ETS out of the Army but continue service with the ARNG / USAR. Thank you both for your hard work and dedication to the company! We wish nothing but success in your futures as an EMT (SSG Brower) and HR professional (CPL Schwartz).

On a happier note, the company came together for a holiday gathering and conducted a gingerbread house competition. The contestants were fierce but the overall winner was SPC (P) Jordan Corliss, who dominated all of the youth in attendance to win a gift card!

Stay tuned for our next adventures and when we drop the website link to purchase some Sasquatch merchandise! Peep the new design below, created by SPC (P) Corliss!

We at 787th OD CO (EOD) want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from our family to yours!
