Due to the public’s overwhelming positive response during the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Centennial Commemoration in November 2021, Arlington National Cemetery is honored to announce the first Flowers of Remembrance Day. Come memorialize our nation’s fallen on Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. by placing a flower at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Flowers of Remembrance Day pays homage to the original Decoration Day, now known as Memorial Day. The first Decoration Day took place in 1868 at Arlington National Cemetery as a way to honor the sacrifice of those from the Civil War.

Join us as we commemorate this 154-year-old tradition.

The U.S. Army launched a revised Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT). Key changes include implementing the ACFT as a general physical fitness test with age and gender performance-normed scoring scales, which account for age and gender grouped performance observed in ACFT test scores.

The Army is also eliminating the leg-tuck exercise, while implementing the plank as the required core strength assessment; the 2.5-mile walk is also added as an alternate aerobic event.

The revised ACFT will consist of six events: 3-Repetition Maximum Deadlift; Standing Power Throw; Hand Release Push-Up; Sprint/Drag/Carry; Plank; and the 2-Mile Run. Soldiers must attain a score of at least 60 points on each test event taken and a "GO" on the alternate aerobic event, if taken.
