713-ASIC4 CRANE OPERATOR COURSE WELCOME LETTER

Soldiers attending the Crane Operator Course should have a copy of their DD Form 1610 (TDY ORDERS) on in-processing day. Parent Units are financially responsible for all cost while attending the course; (i.e. travel arrangements to and from Parent Unit to Fort Leonard (FLW) and return and authorized rental car/POV for transportation to and from class.
1) All students in a TDY status are encouraged to have a government travel card.
2) All Soldiers attending the course are required to have steel toe boots or steel toe caps prior to their arrival to the course. The Soldier's unit supply is required to provide these items.
3) Transportation information is as follows:
a) GOVERNMENT TRANSPORTATION WILL “NOT” BE PROVIDED TO MEET LODGING, CLASS, AND MEAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CRANE ASI C4 COURSE.
b) Daily transportation to classes will be the Soldiers responsibility. Rental Car/POV may be authorized by Parent Unit, and is recommended. Commercial taxis are available on 24-hour bases in and around post.
c) In and round mileage for students that travel by POV may be authorized by the order issuing official as follows:
i) 15 miles per day, if assigned on-post lodging
ii) 20 miles per day, if assigned off-post lodging
d) If driving, the most direct route is by Interstate I-44 that runs
between St Louis and Springfield, MO.
e) If traveling by air to St. Louis: Rental car is the only transportation available. Ft Leonard Wood is approximately 140 miles west of St. Louis.
f) If traveling by air to Springfield: Rental car is the only
transportation available. Ft Leonard Wood is approximately 75 miles east of Springfield.
g) If traveling by air THRU St. Louis International Airport, Trans World Express offers direct flights to post. Service is small and Soldiers can expect their luggage to travel by ground transportation and catch up to them either the same night or the next day. Weekend flights are not always available.
4) Prerequisite: Soldiers selected for the C4 ASI Course are no longer required to complete the Total Mathematics Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE), this prerequisite is currently being waived. Units and Soldiers should be advised that this course utilizes extensive mathematic calculations for determining load requirements throughout the course.
5) Meal Subsistence: Soldiers attending the Crane ASI/C4 Course will subsist at installation dining facilities 7 days per week. Cost of meals are centrally funded and at no cost to soldier. Meal Per Diem is not authorized. Soldiers should be assigned Meal Entitlement Code (MEC) 05 on their Common Access Card (CAC) by their permanent duty location S-1 PRIOR to arriving. CAC will be used at the DFAC. Meals are authorized from class start date to class end date.
6) Lodging/Billeting: Candlewood Suites is an Institutional training hotel. A confirmed reservation in ATRRS means that you already have a room reserved at Candlewood Suites. All Soldiers attending course MUST check into Candlewood Suites on their report date regardless of where they plan on residing during training.
Candlewood Suites is conveniently located close to shopping such as the Commissary, Mini-Mall and Armed Forces Bank. You can enjoy our spacious guest rooms featuring upgraded linen, 32" flat screen TV, and free internet. In addition they provide free complimentary continental breakfast served Monday-Friday from
6am-9am. Check-In is at Bldg. 2020, 4990 Nebraska Ave, 4964 MP Drive, Fort Leonard Wood, MO 65473. 1-877-TEAM (Reservations) 1-573-586-4800 (Front Desk).
7) All Soldiers attending the Crane Operator Course will report to Building 5050 at 0800 in full Army Physical Fitness Uniform (APFU) and with a copy of DA Form 705 for height and weight on in-processing day. Building 5050 is located on left side of FLW 28 (GPS search Wi******er Road).
