Can you imagine if you, a family member, a friend, or a stranger needed help and when you called 911, nobody was there to answer?!!! In every emergency, there will be a voice on the line to answer your call, “The Dispatcher.” The commitment of these professionals is undoubtfully worthy of appreciation and gratitude for their service. As your Chief of Police here at Fort Gregg-Adams Virginia, I am overly grateful for the team we have. On behalf of our organization, I would like to say thank you for your service to our community.
I believe Dispatch Supervisor Rose Hollywood said it best, “Dispatchers are always there to answer the call, providing an indispensable service 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Dispatchers are the unsung heroes of public safety. Citizens don’t see you on the front line of a fire or performing CPR on a crash victim. In fact, they won’t see you at all however, all your behind-the-scenes hard work pays off.”
You are the connection between the Police and the Firefighters…first-responders and the crash, the calming voice on the other end of a 911 call, and the link between a would-be deadly disaster and a life-saving rescue. You provide that communications hub for emergency responses here at Fort Gregg-Adams, VA. It takes an exceptional and talented person to be the calm, collected voice in the middle of catastrophe. As a Fort Gregg-Adams’s Office Public Safety Dispatcher, you play that vital role in keeping our officers, first responders and citizens safe on base.
April 14th through April 20th is National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, and this is the week for our community to say thank you for your service. As a supervisor, I want to extend that appreciation and say a heartfelt thank you.
Thank you for all your hard work and service to our department and the community. You are and always will be our first line of defense in protecting and helping our citizens.
