Today marked 25 years since September 11, 2001.

This morning at the Fort Lauderdale Fire and Safety Museum, we gathered to remember the 2,977 lives lost that day, including 343 FDNY firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, 8 EMS personnel, and the 55 military personnel killed at the Pentagon.

Through a moment of silence and the ringing of the bell, we honored their lives, their service, and their sacrifice.

We also remember the first responders, recovery workers, military personnel, and others whose lives were forever changed by September 11, including those we have lost in the years since from 9/11-related illnesses.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning to remember and honor them.

25 years later, we will never forget.

Happy Labor Day from the Fort Lauderdale Fire and Safety Museum! 🇺🇸

For more than a century, generations of Fort Lauderdale firefighters have answered the call, protected their neighbors, and helped build the fire service our community depends on today.

Their work is a big part of the history we have the privilege of preserving at Historic Fire Station No. 3.

Today, we recognize the firefighters, first responders, public servants, tradespeople, workers, and volunteers whose hard work has helped build and care for our community.

We hope everyone has a safe and happy Labor Day!
