Green sea turtles lookin' at Broward's beaches like....

We are very happy to announce that Broward's first green sea turtle nest has been confirmed! No, we will not tell you what beach because they are an ESA listed species, but you can rejoice in the fact that if they got a cell phone, it would be 954 (or 754).

Happy Friday!

Today is World Bee Day. 🐝 This day celebrates the undeniable importance of bees and other pollinators in sustaining our ecosystems, ensuring food security, and protecting biodiversity.

To celebrate, enjoy this exciting bee adventure we had in February. Our mission: to safely extract a hive from an obsolete air monitoring station soon to be demolished. The team: dedicated county staff guided by Aaron of the UF Bee Club.

Groups like actively educate and engage with the public, demonstrating the vital value of bees and the option of humane beehive extraction. This fosters environmental stewardship and connects us all with the wild world around us.

Broward Water & Wastewater Services customers across the county are encouraged to get a free irrigation evaluation to address spikes in use or just learn about their systems. A proactive Lighthouse Point resident took advantage of our evaluation due to high bills and later upgraded his home system through the irrigation rebate program. 💸 He’s well-prepared for the heat and rain ahead!

The April Air Quality Index (AQI) summary is here! 🌷🌍
Broward County experienced mostly good air quality throughout April, with a few moderate AQI days linked to atmospheric conditions that supported ozone formation and another day during which we noted elevated PM2.5 levels.

On April 3 through 5, weather conditions supported ozone formation across the county. Later in the month, elevated PM2.5 levels were detected near our regulatory-grade air monitoring site in Pompano on April 21 due to an unknown source of particulate matter.
