🌿 Take a hike. Leave the park better than you found it.
Scattered throughout Birch are three self-service Litter Picker Stations stocked with grabbers and buckets for anyone who wants to lend a hand.
Whether you pick up one piece of litter or fill an entire bucket, you're helping protect wildlife, preserve natural habitats, and keep Birch beautiful for everyone.
So next time you're in the park...
🚶 Grab a picker.
🪣 Grab a bucket.
🌎 Make an impact.
Conservation doesn't always require a big commitment—sometimes it starts with a simple walk through the park.

Meet the original Friend of Birch. 🌴
Long before there were trails, kayaks, ranger programs, or wildlife exhibits, there was Hugh Taylor Birch—a visionary who saw something special in this coastal hammock and chose to protect it.
Because of his foresight, generations of South Floridians have had a place to explore, learn, recharge, and connect with nature right in the heart of Fort Lauderdale.
Today, we continue that mission by preserving, enhancing, and promoting the park he loved.
His legacy isn't just history—it's all around us.

Today we honor the Stars and Stripes—a symbol of freedom, unity, and the enduring spirit of our nation. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the service members and veterans whose dedication and sacrifice have helped preserve the freedoms our flag represents. 🎖️❤️
🚣 These then-and-now photos capture more than a day on the water—they reflect generations of people enjoying the same park, making memories, and sharing experiences that connect us across time.
🌳 On this Flag Day, we're reminded that the places we cherish and the traditions we pass down help strengthen the communities we call home.

🐦A little mystery, a little magic.

Hidden among the mangroves, this Black-crowned Night Heron reminds us that some of Birch State Park’s most incredible residents aren’t always easy to find. One quiet moment, one careful glance, and suddenly you’re face-to-face with a bird that looks like it stepped straight out of a nature documentary.

What’s the coolest wildlife encounter you’ve had at the park? We'd love to see! 🐦💚

Check out these lovebirds!

In the summer of 1987, Bill and JaCinda Carey got engaged right here at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. What began as a beautiful chapter in their love story has grown into a lifetime of family, community, and giving back.

Today, Bill and JaCinda are the proud parents of four daughters and grandparents to two grandchildren. Birch State Park continues to hold a special place in their hearts, and we are grateful for their ongoing support through their company, Seacrest Pools, their participation in our fundraising events, and JaCinda’s dedicated service on the Friends of Birch State Park Board of Directors.

Thank you, Bill and JaCinda, for helping preserve and enhance the park that has been part of your story for nearly four decades. 💚

A huge thank you to the Mutual Insurance team for joining us for TWO beach cleanups in two weeks! 🙌♻️ Their volunteers removed several buckets of litter from the beach and surrounding areas, helping protect our coastline and keep our park beautiful. 🐚🌴
Thank you for your continued support—we can't wait to see you again next year! 💙👏
