rary has more than one million library card holders who can choose from over three million library materials for public use. The library receives 90,000 requests for items on hold each month. Our customers have access to Broward County Library's entire collection, with the option of picking up and returning materials at any Broward County Library location. The Broward County Library is partnering with Laufey, the 2X GRAMMY® Award-winning artist, NY Times Bestselling Author of the children’s book, Mei Mei The Bunny, and her global Laufey Book Club to release a special limited-edition library card as part of Library Card Sign-Up Month in September. The card is now available at all BCL branches while supplies last!

There are 53 new bestsellers, one new movie, eighteen new audiobooks, four new children's books, and 147 other new books, including 74 that are available online.

The new bestsellers this week include "Threshing Day," "A Court of Thorns and Roses 6," and "The Disappearers." The new movie this week is "Kiss of the Spider Woman."

Richard J. Courtney was the founder of the Task Force for Ending Homelessness and an incredible advocate for the unhoused community in Fort Lauderdale. On August 24th, 2026, BCL dedicated a sidewalk plaque outside of Main Library in his honor. In attendance were many of Courtney's friends, family, and colleagues, as well as BCL director Allison Grubbs and Senator Nan Rich.
