Budget Facts: Our Employees Are Central To Our Success.

The dedication and hard work of BCPS employees helped the District earn an "A" rating for three consecutive years, and we are committed to negotiating in good faith for the most competitive compensation the District can responsibly afford.

✅ The budget vote was NOT a vote against raises. Employee compensation is determined through collective bargaining with the unions. The School Board directed the Superintendent to pursue raises for teachers and other employees.

✅ No classroom teachers were cut. The approximately 1,000 staff reductions focused on central-office and other non-school-based positions, and more than 90% of affected employees were offered another position in the District.

On the ballot this November 3: Renewal of the Next Generation Referendum. It is not a new tax. It would continue the property tax voters already approved to:

🔹Recruit and retain high-quality teachers and eligible staff by continuing compensation supplements
🔹Maintain and enhance school resource officers and school safety staff
🔹Maintain and enhance essential programs, such as mental health services for students and families

Chickens, goats, snakes and parrots are all part of the classroom at South Plantation High School.

Through the Animal Science and Horticulture program, the largest animal science program in Broward County, students gain hands-on experience, build responsibility and explore future careers.
