Building readiness through strong allied command coordination

Gen. Ingo Gerhartz, commander of NATO Joint Force Command Brunssum, met with Maj. Gen. Charles Grist, V Corps deputy commanding general - maneuver, during a senior leader engagement at Camp Kościuszko, Poland.

The engagement reinforced coordination and shared understanding between JFC Brunssum and V Corps, strengthening command relationships, readiness, interoperability and collective deterrence while ensuring allied forces remain aligned and prepared to respond to emerging challenges across NATO’s eastern flank.

V Corps welcomed Lt. Gen. Thomas M. Feltey as its new commanding general during an assumption of command ceremony at Fort Knox, Kentucky, Aug. 31, 2026, presided over by Gen. Christopher C. LaNeve, acting Chief of Staff of the Army.

During the ceremony, Feltey was promoted from major general to lieutenant general before assuming command of America’s Forward Deployed Corps.

Under Feltey’s leadership, V Corps moves forward into Avenger Triad 26 and upcoming exercises across Europe, building readiness, strengthening our formations and maintaining a combat-credible force alongside our NATO Allies and partners.

Equipping our forces with the right capabilities

Soldiers assigned to 3rd Squadron, 2d Cavalry Regiment, conducted Stryker Double V-Hull A1 new equipment training, familiarization fire and gunnery at Grafenwoehr Training Area, Germany.

The training gives crews hands-on experience with the DVHA1 platform, building the technical proficiency and confidence needed to effectively employ its capabilities in combat. Integrating new equipment into the formation ensures Soldiers remain lethal, adaptable and prepared to fight and win across Europe.

Fewer than one percent of U.S. and British soldiers serve as snipers. The specialized role requires weeks of training, discipline, and the ability to engage designated targets with precision.

U.S. Soldiers from Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC), 2nd Battalion, 37th Armored Regiment (2-37 AR) trained alongside the British Army’s Finder Troop under the Light Dragoons during Finder Troop’s sniper course at the Bemowo Piskie Training Area, Poland, on Aug. 20, 2026.

“Joint training with the British snipers has strengthened our confidence in one another, knowing the training knowledge and terminology are extremely similar to one another,” said Staff Sgt. Derek Beltrame, sniper section leader, assigned to HHC, 2-37 AR.

Ready to rappel into the fight

U.S. Army Soldiers from across formations took to the skies during Air Assault School at Grafenwoehr Training Area, Germany. The 10-day course develops critical skills in aircraft operations, sling-load procedures and rappelling, preparing Soldiers to rapidly move personnel and equipment across the battlefield.

Training like this builds capable, adaptable Soldiers ready to fight and win on Europe's eastern flank.

Sustaining the force. Continuing the mission

The 510th Regional Support Group transferred authority to the 734th Regional Support Group during a ceremony at Camp Kościuszko, Poland. As the 510th RSG concludes nine months of service, the 734th RSG assumes the mission of sustaining V Corps’ forward presence and supporting combat-ready forces across Europe.

This transition ensures continuity of support and reinforces V Corps’ ability to maintain readiness, strengthen NATO partnerships and deter aggression along the Alliance’s eastern flank.

U.S. and Croatian Soldiers with NATO Forward Land Forces Battle Group–Poland put interoperability into action during live-fire training at Bemowo Piskie Training Area, Poland.

U.S. Army Soldiers with the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment, NATO Forward Land Forces Battle Group-Poland, put M109 Paladins to work during live-fire training at Bemowo Piskie Training Area, Poland.

From moving into firing positions to sending rounds downrange, this training sharpens the speed, precision and lethality required to fight as part of V Corps’ ready forces in Europe. Alongside our NATO allies, we continue building combat-ready formations capable of responding when and where they are needed.
