(No animals were harmed in the making of this post and all necessary safety and cleaning procedures are followed daily for the operation of a municipal public pool😀)

Dog lovers and owners! Need a little guidance in how to best care for your best friend (referring to the K-9 version😀)? New owner? Someone that has owned a dog before? Or...just a great time to come with your companion (again, of the K-9 version😀) and learn a few things and polish up that socialization piece...here it is!

“K-9 College” Dog Obedience

Instructor: Jake Robichaud
When: Every Thursday evening beginning May 28th, 2026 - First class is without dogs.
Time: 6:00 pm
Where: Riverside Park Dog Park in the lower bowl.
How Long: It’s up to a 5 week course running between May 28th - June 25th, 2026.
Requirements: Dogs must be at least 5 months old. Provide Proof of Vaccinations. Choke Collar with a 6’ lead.
Cost: $75.00 per participant.

Meet Chief of Police, Michael Delena, of the Fort Kent Police Department. Michael is the Maine Chief's of Police Association, District 8 Representative.

Michael has been the police chief of Fort Kent since 2021. His career with the Fort Kent Police Department began in 2009 as a Reserve Officer and hired full-time in 2014. He worked a short stint with the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office serving as patrol sergeant before returning to the Fort Kent Police Department in 2021. Michael has a bachelor’s degree in public safety administration and associate’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Maine in Fort Kent. Upon graduation from UMaine, he received the Rural Public Safety Administration Award from UMFK in recognition of academic excellence and future contribution in public safety.

In 2025 he completed the FBI-LEEDA Leadership Trilogy Award and is a member of the Fort Kent Lion’s Club and Fort Kent Masons. He resides in Eagle Lake with his wife and is the proud father of two children, Ethan and Abby.

We are fortunate to work with Chief Delena. Keep up the good work.

⚠️ Road Closure Notification for Logger Fest ⚠️

West Main Street, spanning from Hall Street to the Port of Entry, will be closed on Saturday, May 16, from 4:00 p.m. to approximately 9:00 p.m., following the conclusion of the fireworks display. A designated detour route will be in place via Hall Street to Pearl Street. Motorists are advised to follow traffic directives for access to and from the Port of Entry.
