Another successful Jamboree On The Air in the books! I want to thank Troop 189 for inviting the Pack 189 for a great day of field games, Blockhouse tours, and showing the kids how to boil eggs in a paper cup! I also want to thank Jason Boucher (KC1SEC) for facilitating the radio activity. He did a great job in teaching theory, involving the scouts in setup and got them on the air! He even presented a certificate of the contacts they made! IF you have a child K-12 that wants to join scouting, please feel free to reach out!

Hello Everyone!

Given the upcoming parent teacher conferences, we are meeting this week on Thursday the 6th at the Knights of Columbus hall at 6pm.

Tomorrow, Wednesday the 5th pizza orders are being delivered to the Theriault's home at 157 Pleasant St in Fort Kent. Please pick up your pizza as soon as you can by the end of the day. Warm temps are coming so they cannot stay overnight.

Hello All!

This morning I was able to finalize details for our location. Saturday on February 8th at 10AM we will have our pinewood derby race at Valley Motors in Fort Kent. Parking is available at the dealership with overflow parking available at shop n save.

Powdered graphite WILL be allowed to be used at the race. For those new to the activity this is a type of lubricant used on the axles. I will have some available on race day.

Scouts are asked to arrive at 9:30AM to begin registration. We simply want to confirm you are there for the roster and be sure your car is ready to race! Please remember the following specifications when completing your car:

Width shall not exceed 2-3/4 inches.
Height shall not exceed 3 inches
Length shall not exceed 7 inches.
Weight shall not exceed 5 ounces.
Axles, wheels, and body shall be from the materials provided in the kit. Additional wheels can be purchased separately.
Wheel bearings, washers, and bushings are prohibited.
No lubricating oil may be used. Axles may be lubricated with powdered graphite or silicone.
The car shall not ride on any kind of spring.
The car must be free-wheeling, with no starting devices.
No loose materials of any kind are allowed in the car

No scout will be turned away from having fun, everyone will have a chance to go down the track. For those that advance to the district race, they will be more strict with the above specs.

I will have tools, a scale and graphite available should we need to help anyone make any adjustments.

A reminder that February 6th our pizza kit orders are due. Sell all that you can and turn in your forms in that meeting and we will get them submitted to Little Caesars.

Hello All!

Just one more reminder about the pinewood derby lab tomorrow. We will meet at the St John Valley Tech Center in Frenchville (431 Main St, Frenchville, ME).

We will meet at 9am. Carey has asked that we meet around the back of the building near the last garage door (I will be there). Please let me know if you have decided to go just so we know to have enough space and supplies.

For those that have asked, this is just an optional resource for the derby, you are more than welcome to build your car at home. If you do come, please:

-be prepared to stay with your scout
-have a simple design in mind that is attainable for the morning
-be prepared to follow safety rules of the shop.

Hello All,

Due to the weather, we will be canceling scouts tonight. We will still meet at Crosswinds at 9am Saturday the 7th, and Forest Hill at 10am. All are welcome to any or all of the caroling you can do!

Since we are not meeting today, we ask that those coming to carol please have your scout make at least five cards to give to residents. They can be made from anything you have with a simple Christmas greeting and maybe some art, if they want. If you are attending and plan to make cards, please send a quick reply to let me know so we can plan to have enough for residents (we need about 95).

We will be handing out pinewood derby cars to those that come to carol. If you are not coming this weekend, please reach out to me on messenger or at 316-7584 to make arrangements to get your pinewood derby kit. This is for our race in February, more details to follow.

Hello Everyone!

This Thursday the 5th at 6pm (weather permitting) we will be meeting at the Knights of Columbus Hall (KC).

This week we will be making cards and practicing Christmas carols for our outing this weekend. Saturday the 7th we will be meeting at Crosswinds at 9am, then we will make our way to Forest Hill for 10am.

As you may know, there is a pending snowstorm this Thursday. I have seen different forecasts, but I will email and update Facebook should we decide to cancel.

We will see you this week!

Hello All!

This week, Thursday 21st at 6pm we are having our next cub scout meeting. Originally we were going to meet at the KC Hall, however we will be back at the Fort Kent Elementary School. We will have a short meeting starting at 6pm, then at 6:30 any dens that want to participate are invited to go to the sports fields out back where some Lion's Club members will be demonstrating a trebuchet! Feel free to bring any pumpkins you may have leftover from halloween and we will find out how far they can go!

Dress warm, and don't worry if you don't have a pumpkin, there will be some available!

I want to thank Christina and Jake Theriault for receiving and sorting popcorn at their home! If you have not yet picked up your order, please reach out to make arrangements asap.

A reminder that this month's pack outing is tomorrow, November 10th at 2pm at the Lion's Pavilion in Fort Kent. We will be assisting the Troop with a flag retirement ceremony in honor of local veterans that have passed away. Please come in your class A uniform (if you have one) and arrive a few minutes early to assist in setting up and to go over the ceremony.
