Shortly after midnight, the Fort Kent Fire Department, in collaboration with our automatic mutual aid partners from Eagle Lake, responded to a reported structure fire at 98 Brookside in Fort Kent. Upon arrival, the mobile home was completely engulfed, with the fire having spread to a small shed. We immediately took measures to protect the surrounding area and brought the fire under control within an hour. We are grateful for the assistance provided by Eagle Lake Fire, Fort Kent Public Works, and ASI on scene. Chief Pelletier will be conducting a follow-up investigation today with the Maine State Fire Marshals, as part of standard protocol. Additionally, we take a moment to honor the memory of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country…All gave some, some gave all. 🇺🇸

*****Sunday May 24 Update - the fire danger has been brought back to high by the Maine Forest Service. Burning won’t be allowed today. Thanks for your cooperation. *****

With the lack of steady rain, the high winds and warmer temperatures the fire danger remains high across the entire state for the third day in a row. As the holiday weekend approaches, we’d like everyone to abide by the no burning restriction to prevent a brush or wildfire from occurring. Thanks, Chief Pelletier

If you’ve been issued a burn permit for today, unfortunately you aren’t allowed to burn. The fire danger is high. This applies to seasonal campfires as well. Thanks, Chief Pelletier
