A small tribe in Northern California is set to purchase nearly 40,000 acres of scenic, mountainous terrain near the Oregon border, in what would be the second largest “land back” deal in state history.

The second largest tribal “land back” deal in CA was just funded by the CA State Water Board.

The Quartz Valley Indian Reservation is receiving a $25 million zero-interest loan to purchase 40,000 acres in the Klamath River Basin.

This is State-Tribal partnership in action.

The Tribe will create a salmon sanctuary, restore cultural practices and protect water quality in tributaries of the Scott River, which flow through the land.
