Just, Wow.

A father said to his daughter “You have graduated with honors, here is a Jeep I bought many years ago. It is pretty old now. But before I give it to you, take it to the used car lot downtown and tell them I want to sell it and see how much they offer you for it.”

The daughter went to the used car lot, returned to her father and said, “They offered me $1,000 because they said it looks pretty worn out.”

The father said, now “Take it to the pawn shop.” The daughter went to the pawn shop, returned to her father and said,”The pawn shop offered only $100 because it is an old Jeep.”

The father asked his daughter to go to a Jeep club now and show them the Jeep. The daughter then took the Jeep to the club, returned and told her father,” Some people in the club offered $100,000 for it because “it's an iconic Jeep and sought by many collectors.”

Now the father said this to his daughter, “The right place values you the right way,” If you are not valued, do not be angry, it means you are in the wrong place. Those who know your value are those who appreciate you......Never stay in a place where no one sees your value.

Glad to see there are still some folks checking this site out!! I created this and have since moved on but I encourage y'all to encourage DPW environmental to keep it going best they can. I learned and appreciated so much more about remote garrison life our Army folks have to contend with sometimes (three legged donkeys and bobcat raids - can I get a woot woot?) Love and miss my entire Army 'family' every day!🐥🐴🐱🐰🐢🐢🐦🐛🐉🐁(yes, dragons!) 😆❤

Please be aware of our little critters that get SLLooowww during winter temps! Pictured is a baby desert banded gecko I accidentally uncovered in my yard. If you're moving wood piles or compost, etc., this time of year, be sure and watch for hibernating desert critters. Relocate them Gently, to an alternative cover that you don't expect to disturb. If you cannot, please call the Fort Irwin wildlife department for advice. (760)380-2681 Love Ya!!

Here are some tips from our friendly DPW team, to try to keep you safe and aware concerning wild animals on post.

The Garrison Bobcat was relocated to an area teeming with natural game well away from human habitation.

The Traps are Set! We have officially started the gathering of the hangers-on Burros on Garrison. . (my personal Ft Irwin b***o, Dinkey, sending good trapping vibes in this video) :-)

Please distribute widely! We are setting traps in the area of recent, repeated sightings and encounters with the latest bobcat who is not behaving as a normal, healthy adult bobcat should. Therefore, we all need to use caution when using the walking trails along the large wash west of Commander's Loop area. Please reference this map and attempt to avoid this wash until we capture this animal. Thanks all for your support and understanding!

Happy Monday, Fort Irwin: we at the Natural Resources dept. have been tracking the Bobcats Behaving Badly scenarios over the weekend. We can take steps to assist the public with these feline individuals who are posing a danger to small pets on the garrison but we need your help to do it: If you have personally experienced a run-in with a bobcat, please contact us directly. In order to effectively attempt trapping the animal(s) some very specific info is needed. Third-party or heresay/rumor information won't be helpful.

If your pet has an encounter with a wild cat that results in injury, Please report to Veterinary Services. It is critical for us to understand the timing, location, and circumstances of the encounter so we can orchestrate an effective capture strategy. Any bobcats successfully captured during this process will be evaluated for health condition and age and a safe, appropriate re-location plan will be developed. Again, these wild animals are attracted to garrison because of our actions: water, vegetation, and refuse/garbage attracts the prey animals the predators rely on - they are just following their food source. We only intervene if a wild critter becomes a danger to the public or itself. Thank you as always, for your patience and understanding and keep the (accurate) information coming as well as, of course, your questions or concerns!

Remember to look down this time of year as tortoises are on the move for that last meal and bit of sun before going into their winter slumber:. This little guy is only one and a half inches long!! Watch where you step!

Hi, All! Took a look at some posts today around Ft Irwin pages and it seems we have some (more than one) incidences of dog x donkey confrontations - and the dogs are not winning!

Let me remind folks that donkeys are bigger than they look and can be dangerous- very much so as a few dog owners and vehicle owners have found out, the hard way! Jacks, or male donkeys, are high on testosterone right now and can be unpredictable. If you can, refrain from walking pups in the evening and early morning - if at all, for a couple weeks. Donkeys Hate Dogs if you haven't figured by now 😋. Please be Safe and I'll try to get a podcast out on the subject.

Amazing!
