178th Military Police Detachment serves as the Policing Operations Force in the 720th Military Police Battalion located at Fort Hood, TX. The unit serves the Soldiers and families of the installation and the local area.

226th Military Working Dog Detachment supports the 720th Military Police Battalion's mission and consistently deploys teams to support all areas of combat around the world. The Fo

rt Hood Special Reactions Team (SRT) falls under the Detachment and expected and mandated to provide a well-trained, specialized, and disciplined team that can successfully operate in a variety of environments and surgically neutralize special threats in order to restore normal operations within military jurisdiction and preserve human life. 178th Military Police Detachment Soldiers, Veterans, Family, and Friends:

Due to Army Force Restructuring, the 178th MP Detachment has been identified to inactivate 27 September 2024. When a unit inactivates, it is not being eliminated or deactivated from the United States Army. It is being placed in a long-term reserve status as the Army restructures itself into a more efficient fighting force. Even though in this reserve status, the 178th Military Police Detachment could be called on once again to activate and serve the nation at home and abroad.

We are asking all current and former Enforcers, as well as any friends and families with warm memories of their time with the 178th MP Detachment to post their stories, photos, and memories as comments to this post. Please join us in celebrating the legacy and people that served in this historic unit!
