CRAZY HORSE Trooper of the week!

SGT Koonce

SGT Koonce from 3rd platoon, CRAZY HORSE Company, 2-5 CAV, continues to lead from the front during port operations. SGT Koonce executed an extremely effective process for the tank divestiture layouts while continuing to assist in the greater port mission. SGT Koonce’s ability to provide guidance for the Troopers at the port, exemplary work ethic, and his willingness to take on difficult tasks has enabled CRAZY HORSE company troopers to simultaneously execute both a divestiture and port operations.

TF CRAZY HORSE conducted MOUT (military operations in urban terrain) training at Nova Selo Training Area. It was a combined FoF (force on force) training event that included the scout platoon, a infantry platoon (3rd Platoon) from B Co, the BN mortars platoon, and the Brigade UAS platoon. The platoons excelled and gained valuable experience while operating in a urban environment.

On 15 May, TF CRAZY HORSE conducted a spur ride for 107 troopers from across 2-5 CAV.

A spur ride is a Cavalry tradition where new Troopers to a Cavalry unit must pass a series of physical and mental tests relevant to the Cavalry. Some of the tests evaluate leadership, technical and tactical proficiency, physical fitness, the ability to operate as part of a team under high levels of stress and fatigue under both day and night conditions.

Our new spur holders completed a grueling 24 hour spur ride where they covered 32 miles, completed 9 tactical lanes, and a series of physical fitness tests. They completed all this while carrying a 50 lb. rucksack.

It was well deserved for all the troopers and we are honored to have witnessed them enter the order of the spur!

Yesterday, we conducted an awards ceremony for Red Platoon. It was an honor to present these awards! After months of hard training, this was a well deserved moment.

It was a great day in CRAZY HORSE land today. We had the pleasure of promoting SGT Holley to Staff Sergeant and SPC George to Sergeant today. Well deserved men! We are excited to watch you achieve success among the NCO ranks.

The shadow platoon conducted some amazing training with Bulgarian rocket artillery and heavy howitzers. It was valuable training that shows they are ready and able. Great job!
