Starting tomorrow, the CSM Jack L. Clark Jr. U.S. Army Best Medic Competition kicks off at Fort Sam Houston and Camp Bullis in San Antonio, Texas. This premier annual event identifies the Army’s most elite two-Soldier medical teams, testing combat medical proficiency, tactical skill, endurance, and mental toughness across 72 hours of high-stress, simulated battlefield conditions.

Representing the III Armored Corps:
•1st Cavalry Division: SGT Browning and SGT Icenogle
•1st Infantry Division: 1LT Dack and SSG Davis
•1st Medical Brigade: LTC Gaa and 2LT Gonzalez
•3d Cavalry Regiment: MSG McCauley and SGT Griffiths
•36th Engineer Brigade: 1LT Menigo and SSG Finley

The weather forecast is shaping up to be a little colder than usual this weekend. Below are some tips to be prepared:

- Winterize sprinkler systems.
- Leave cabinet doors open under sinks to circulate air.
- Stock up on drinking water.
- Have warm clothes and blankets at the ready.
- Charge electronics such as phones, power banks and flashlights.
- If you lose power, don’t run fuel powered space heaters indoors without proper ventilation.
- Bring pets inside, even just the garage with some blankets. Make sure they have accessible unfrozen water.
- Fill the gas tank of your vehicle.
- Remember that you can’t see black ice so if you HAVE to go out please proceed with caution. You may be a great winter driver but the person driving next to you may not be.

The 1st Medical Brigade Best Medic Competition showcased the Army’s most capable medics operating under demanding and realistic conditions. Across multiple days, competitors were challenged physically and mentally through a series of events designed to test medical proficiency, tactical decision making, and endurance. From early morning starts to complex casualty care scenarios, each lane required precision, composure, and teamwork. This highlight captures the professionalism, resilience, and commitment to excellence that define Army medicine and the Soldiers who uphold its standard.
