BLACK JACK UMTs led a consolidated Protestant Chapel Service in the RUBA at NTC this evening. The commitment and dedication of these chaplains and religious affairs specialists shines through as they provide religious support while the BDE continues its mission at NTC.

The BLACK JACK UMT made ministry happen on Easter at NTC. There were many Protestant Easter Services throughout the BCT all weekend, but the BDE has no Catholic Priest. The BDE UMT coordinated to have the NTC garrison priest meet Catholic Soldiers in the box for Easter Mass at NTC. CH (MAJ) Christensen also thanked CH (LTC) Opara for his ministry with a BLACK JACK UMT coin.

It’s been a very busy two weeks of Ministry for the BLACK JACK UMTs. Today the 3-16 FAR UMT led a Spiritual Resiliency Ruck March up Dana Peak and the 4-9 CAV UMT conducted a Spiritual Readiness Training at the People First Center. UMTs conduct spiritual training because one of our core competencies is to Nurture the Living. On a more somber but equally important note, we have also conducted two memorials over the last two weeks and will conduct another next week. UMTs conduct memorials to meet our other two core competencies of Honoring the Fallen and Caring for the Wounded who are grieving the loss. Furthermore, this was all conducted as the BDE prepares to deploy for a month of training at NTC. The Army never stops, so Unit Ministry never stops.
