Quartz Creek Fire burning near Arbon Valley
ARBON VALLEY - Idaho– The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) is leading firefighting operations on the Quartz Fire near Arbon Valley.
Incident Commander Karl Mosho, with the BIA, is overseeing the response in coordination
with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Forest Service (FS).
About 15 acres have burned. The suspected cause may be lightening.
Current firefighting resources assigned to the incident include: Two BLM Engines, two BIA Engines, one U.S. Forest Service Engine, two dozers, one
Helicopter, one Air Attack platform, Smokejumpers (recently ordered due to difficult terrain access).
The fire is located in rough terrain with no truck access, requiring air and ground crews to
rely on specialized resources. BIA is serving as the Incident Command Agency, with support
from BLM and FS. Crews are actively engaged in suppression efforts to contain the fire and
protect surrounding lands and resources.

Firefighters respond to Rio Vista Fire near Fort Hall

FORT HALL – As of 11:56 a.m. on August 1, a wildfire identified as the Rio Vista Fire is actively burning sagebrush terrain on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation.

The Fort Hall Fire Department is responding to the scene, with active support from the Bureau of Indian Affairs Wildland Fire, North Bannock Fire Department, and Fort Hall Fish & Game.

“Due to the winds and dry conditions the fire spread quickly,” said Fort Hall Fire Department Chief, Eric King.

He identified no known reason at this time and no structures are threatened.
In response to the ongoing fire activity, the following roads are closed to all traffic:
Sheepskin Road (Eastbound)
Bench Road (Eastbound)
Philbin Road (Westbound)

These closures are in place to ensure safe and unobstructed access for firefighting personnel and equipment.

The public is strongly urged to avoid the area. Unauthorized presence near the fire zone is dangerous and may interfere with emergency operations. We ask for the community’s full cooperation as firefighters work to contain the blaze.

This remains an active incident. As more information becomes available, we will provide updates

Each day, we show up with our boots on. Some days are heavier than others. Everyday, we love our job. Yesterday, was a day filled with laughter and excitement as we welcomed home one of our own, Austin Perez. He left the Fire Service 8 months ago to pursue his dreams of serving our country in the Navy. We are proud. 🚒 🧑‍🚒 💪🏾 ❤️
