Southbound I-15 ramp closure at Fort Hall expected Thursday night
POCATELLO – The Idaho Transportation Department will shift southbound Interstate 15 traffic on to new lanes built in the median near Fort Hall tomorrow, prompting a short-term ramp closure at Fort Hall. T shift will create the space needed to continue widening I-15 to three lanes in each direction.
Traffic will be shifted from the Sheepskin Road Bridge to north of the 2 ½ Mile Road Bridge. Motorists can expect:
The southbound off-ramp at the Fort Hall Interchange (Exit 80) will close for approximately one hour beginning at 7 p.m. Motorists may detour to the Northgate Interchange (Exit 73) or South Blackfoot Interchange (Exit 89).
Intermittent I-15 southbound lane closures from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Two lanes will remain open in each direction during the daytime.
Construction on the I-15 Northgate to Fort Hall project began in fall 2024 to improve safety and capacity by widening I-15 to three lanes in each direction. This $200 million project is expected to be completed in 2027 according to an ITD press release.
As work continues on I-15, motorists are encouraged to stay alert for traffic changes, follow work zone signage and drive the posted speed limit. Visit 511.idaho.gov to plan your route in advance and prepare for potential delays.

A question we get asked often is 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 an emergency exactly?

Here is a general guideline of when you should dial 911 vs. (208)238-4000.

Understanding the distinction between our two dispatch lines, allows our dispatchers to address emergent and non-emergent issues as efficiently as possible; all while ensuring emergency services are available for people who need them most.

08/19/2026

08/20/2026 @ 9 a.m.,
Please resume utilizing (208)238-4000 for non-emergencies, and 911 for emergencies only. Thank you for your cooperation.

‼️Public Notice‼️
If you are having trouble contacting FHPD dispatch on our non-emergency line (208)238-4000 and need assistance, please dial 911.

Congratulations to our new Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Officer Rivas!

Officer Rivas spent 80 hours at D.A.R.E. training in Utah the past couple of weeks where he learned techniques to help youth say NO to drug, alcohol, and to***co use; and how to resist peer pressure.

Thank you, Officer Rivas, for being a positive role model to the youth you serve and your continued hard work for the community.
