Sarah's House is so fortunate to enjoy the support of so many volunteers who share in our work. Check out one of our favorites, Mr. Mike!

"I became a volunteer at Friends of Sarah's House through my association with the Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) in early 2022. I initially volunteered in the Day Care Center, but my time there was cut short because of the COVID-19 pandemic. During that time, Bruce Clopein asked me to help make donor thank-you calls, which I continue to do.

After COVID-19 restrictions were lifted, I began volunteering at the front desk, where I continue to serve today.

As I mentioned, my involvement with IVC helped lead me to Sarah’s House. I am retired and a widower, and I wanted to find a meaningful way to give back and become involved in charitable work. When an opportunity became available at Sarah’s House, it felt like a natural fit. The shelter is also close to my home, making it convenient for me to volunteer regularly.

My experience at Sarah’s House has been very rewarding. I enjoy working with the staff and feel that my contributions are appreciated. I am grateful to be part of Sarah’s House and deeply appreciate the important work the organization does to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness."

Sarah's House is truly blessed to enjoy the support of so many generous and thoughtful friends within our community.

The latest example of Love of Neighbor can be found compliments of Elizabeth and Shirley along with their colleagues at Erickson Senior Living, which organized a huge wish list drive of diapers, toiletries, and paper products for our program. Check out these two vehicles loaded to the brim with donations! Given the large size of Sarah's House, drives such as this are a great and impactful way to support our work.

A big thank you to Shirley, Elizabeth, and everyone at Erickson Senior Living, and to all of our friends in the community for your partnership! :)

Happy Monday from everyone here at Sarah's House!

Do you want to know of a great way to support our program and those whom we serve? Currently, our priority in-kind donation needs are for body wash and deodorant, for both women and men.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and generosity!

Happy Tuesday from Sarah's House!

Our clients were treated to some special visitors yesterday, when volunteer barbers and stylists through the The Hill Church in nearby Jessup stopped by once again to provide services. The awesome people pictured are Valerie Walker, Journey Walker, Tiara Barnes, and Jermaine Lemon. Suffice it to say, love of neighbor (and great looking haircuts) was on full display. :)

We thank the The Hill Church and these wonderful volunteers for their outreach ministry to Sarah's House and those whom we serve!

Happy Friday Jr. from Sarah's House!

For the past week, we have been blessed by the work of youth groups from Saint John the Evangelist School, Severna Park Preschool - 8th Grade. Through their Summer Madness program, these middle school volunteers are paired with high school leaders along with adult chaperones to provide outreach to various local charities. This awesome bunch of kids helped with property beautification as well as creating flyers for upcoming family activities. And as a side note, Saint John the Evangelist School, Severna Park Preschool - 8th Grade serves as one of our ongoing meal service groups. :)

It's always inspiring to see young people step up and reach out in service to their community!

Happy Monday from Sarah's House!

Thanks to Elijah and his Eagle Scout project, the week has gotten off to a great start for our program. Elijah, pictured on the right along with his friend Hudson, is a part of Boy Scout Troop 769 in Odenton. For his Eagle project, Elijah and his Troop organized this huge collection of diapers, baby wipes, twin size linens, paper goods, and food.

We thank Elijah and his fellow Scouts for providing a powerful example of service to others, and the difference we can all make in our community!

Happy Friday from everyone here at Sarah's House!

Speaking of that sentiment, we are so happy to have volunteers from Cummins Sales and Service stop by today to lend a helping hand--annual group outreach they have provided for the past several years. These folks know how to work, and are painting and beautifying our grounds. And who knows, they might spend their break on our playground! :)

On behalf of all the clients and staff here at Sarah's House, a big thank you to Cummins Sales and Service for all they have done and continue to do in support of our program and those whom we serve.
