Fort Gaines 200 The 2016 Bicentennial Commemoration of the Historic Fort on the bluff of the Chattachoochee River in Fort Gaines, Georgia.

In 1816 an outpost was constructed under the direction of General Edmund Gaines to protect the local settlers of Fort Gaines, Ga and Franklin, AL during the Creek Indian War. A replica of the quarter house of the fort stands on the bluff of the Chattahoochee River along with several other historic buildings. The City of Fort Gaines is commemorating this historic fort the Summer of 2016. We will ha

ve festivals held Memorial Weekend, Fourth of July Weekend, and Labor Day Weekend 2016. Traditional Creek Indian & Frontier culture will be celebrated by demonstrations, re-enactments, primitive art & skill classes, lecture series, music, dancing, food, and children's activities.
