At 1:01 AM this morning, SGFFC was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Jennifer Drive in Moreau. Greenfield Fire District was automatically dispatched to provide a FAST Team.

First arriving units confirmed smoke showing from the residence. The Greenfield Companies were reassigned to fireground operations, and West Glens Falls Volunteer Fire Company was requested to provide FAST Team.

Upon investigation, crews found a dryer fire in the basement. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and contained it to the dryer, preventing it from spreading into the rest of the home. Despite limited manpower, the first arriving crews acted swiftly and brought the situation under control.

Wilton Fire Department provided standby coverage and the SGFFC Auxiliary responded with refreshments for personnel operating on scene.

New York State Police

All units were clear of the incident at 2:20 AM.

The South Glens Falls Fire Company would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Town of Moreau and Saratoga County for the generous contribution of $15,000 in support of our Dive Team.

This funding will help ensure our team remains properly equipped, trained, and ready to respond to water rescue incidents throughout our community and the surrounding region. Maintaining a highly trained dive team requires a significant investment in specialized equipment, training, and operational readiness, and this support plays a vital role in helping us continue that mission.

We are grateful for the continued partnership and commitment shown by the Town of Moreau and Saratoga County to public safety. Investments like these directly strengthen our ability to protect and serve our community when they need us most.

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation will be conducting a prescribed burn at Big Bend Preserve today starting around 10:30 AM.

🚫 Big Bend Preserve will be CLOSED to all visitors for the entire day on June 4.

Visitors are encouraged to monitor their email or follow the Moreau Lake State Park page for official notification when the preserve has reopened.

✅ Operations at Moreau Lake State Park will not be impacted and the park will remain open as normal.

UPDATE: Route 9 has been reopened

⚠️ Route 9 is currently CLOSED between Reynolds Road and Fortsville Road due to a motor vehicle accident that took down a utility pole and wires.

Please avoid the area, seek alternate routes, and use caution if traveling nearby to allow first responders and utility personnel the space they need to work safely.

🚨 Structure Fire – Nolan Road 🚨

Last night at 8:19 PM, SGFFC was dispatched to Nolan Road for a reported structure fire with smoke and flames visible. Greenfield Fire District and Bay Ridge Volunteer Fire Company were automatically requested for FAST teams.

Chief Corlew was the first arriving officer and confirmed a working fire, immediately requesting additional resources including a tower from West Glens Falls Volunteer Fire Company and an engine from Fort Edward Fire Department

Upon arrival, crews were met with heavy fire load, with approximately 50% of the residence involved. Firefighters executed a swift and effective transitional attack, quickly knocking down the bulk of the fire.

Saratoga County Cause and Origin was requested to investigate. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.

We are grateful to report no injuries to civilians or responders. All units returned to service at 12:14 AM.

Seamless teamwork was key in quickly bringing this incident under control.
