We want to share an update with the community regarding the proposed Public Safety Center.

The Webster County Public Safety Authority, Webster County, and the City of Fort Dodge have agreed to move the Public Safety Center referendum from November 2026 to November 2027.

A project of this size and importance deserves the time needed to make sure the plan is thoroughly developed, financially responsible, and ready for public consideration. The additional year will allow us to continue refining the facility plan, confirming costs, reviewing financing and long-term operations, and providing the public with more information and opportunities to ask questions.

The need for improved public safety facilities has not changed, and the project is not starting over. The work already completed will serve as the foundation as planning continues.

We appreciate the community’s patience and engagement as we work together to develop a proposal that is ready for voters to consider in November 2027.

Notice of Intent to Fill Vacancy for the Office of Webster County Auditor by Appointment

(Fort Dodge, Iowa, July 16, 2026) – The Board of Supervisors of Webster County, Iowa, hereby give notice pursuant to Iowa Code Section §69.14A of its intent to fill a vacancy for the office of Webster County Auditor by appointment. The appointment shall be for the period from date of appointment until a qualified elector is elected on November 3, 2026. The Webster County Board of Supervisors will meet to appoint the County Auditor position at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

Candidates interested in appearing on the ballot to fill the Office of Webster County Auditor for the November 3, 2026, general election can file paperwork pursuant to Iowa Code Chapters 43, 44, or 45 by August 26, 2026.

Applicants should submit a cover letter & resume to the Webster County Auditor’s office by email at [email protected], by mail at 701 Central Avenue, Fort Dodge, IA 50501, or by dropping them off in the Auditor’s Office on the second floor of the Webster County Courthouse. The deadline to submit the required paperwork is 4:00PM on Friday, July 24, 2026.
