This week the Atlantic Strike Team hosted members from the Norwegian Coastal Administration (NCA), EPA Environmental Response Team, CG-MER, and USCG Atlantic Area staff members for a unit visit and capabilities demonstration. Earlier this year Atlantic Strike Team took part in a Joint Exercise with the NCA and other Coast Guard units as part of the Arctic Guardian full-scale exercise near Tromsø Norway. In addition to our responsibilities for domestic oil and hazmat spills the National Strike Force stands ready to assist in any climate and in any location.

Training never stops at the Atlantic Strike Team. During this year's Response Member college newly arrived Active and Reserve members came together to practice essential skills while also taking time to participate in a boom deployment exercise at U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Cape May with the TRACEN Cape May Facilities and Fire Department

In addition to being an NFPA Certified Hazardous Materials Technician, Strike Team members must be proficient in a variety of skills such as Maritime Environmental Response, Marine Salvage, and decontamination. In addition some members retain highly technical skills in Unmanned Aerial Systems and Confined Space entry.

Exercises like these help us sharpen are skills so we can serve as Crisis Leaders and Responders; Any Time, Any Place, Any Hazard.

Atlantic Strike Team recently had the opportunity to assist in the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst’s Leading Edge course. Giving E-4 to E-6 leaders from every branch time on the Damage Control simulator, testing their ability to work as a team and strengthening inter-service cooperation. Big round of applause for our one and only Training Coordinator Mr. Craig Coburn! Thank you for your tireless assistance! Well Deserved.

❄️ This week’s highlights Training Coordinator Craig Coburn! ❄️

Mr. Coburn does everything he can in the best interest of the Coast Guardsmen around him. He coordinated the first National Fire Protection Association Pro Board Hazardous Materials Technician Course and rewrote the performance qualification standards. Through these efforts, all unit members received nationally accredited training, education, and certifications transferable to civilian jobs after military service. ICYMI: The Atlantic Strike Team had our annual Holiday Party last week with special guests including The Rolling Thunder Inc. who brought gifts for the kids and Santa! Congratulations to Senior Chief Garner and Petty Officer Fritz for winning the Ugly Sweater Contest, and a special thank you to Mr. Jim Doval who donated some beautiful co****le boards to the unit. From all of us at the Atlantic Strike Team we hope you have a wonderful Holiday Season and look forward to an exciting New Year!

She’s the teammate everyone wants to work with. She has dedicated her time to conducting CDL qualification rides for junior members and trained 38 deployable members to safely operate self-contained breathing apparatus for the highest level of protection for skin, eyes, and the respiratory system.
