Unit History
The 6th Theater Medical Materiel Management Center was originally constituted February 23, 1943 as the 6th Convalescent Hospital of the United States Army, and was activated May 25, 1943 at Camp Ellis, Illinois. The unit was inactivated November 4, 1945 and was later re-designated as the 6th Convalescent Center on the 29th of November in 1954. In Germany the unit was activated and the
n inactivated, respectively, 17 January 1955 and 20 September 1958. On 29 November 1965 the unit was reactivated at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, deployed to Vietnam, where it was later inactivated on 30 October 1971. On 30 September 1994 the unit was re-designated as the 6th Theater Medical Materiel Management Center and was activated at Fort Detrick, Maryland. On 16 October 2000 the unit was re-designated as the 6th Medical Logistics Management Center.
