On May 13, 2026, at approximately 1:00 PM, the Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a concerned parent regarding an unknown male who was seen being escorted out of Dirks-Anderson Elementary School by the principal. The individual was not authorized to be on school property.

A Jeff Davis County deputy made contact with Gerardo Martinez Tercero at 712 State Street. Upon contact with law enforcement, Martinez displayed unusual behavior, and was acting unstable. During the investigation Martinez was found to be in possession of ma*****na and was arrested for Possession of Ma*****na in a Drug-Free Zone. He was subsequently transported to the Hudspeth County Jail.

On May 6, 2026, at approximately 8:10 PM, a deputy working Stonegarden with the Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office made contact with a driver on State Street in Fort Davis after receiving calls regarding a vehicle swerving and driving erratically.

Following further investigation Justin Guevara was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) after failing a field sobriety test conducted by Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). Guevara was later transported to the Hudspeth County Jail without further incident.

🚨Drug Possession Arrests🚨

On May 7, 2026, at approximately 5:41 p.m., a deputy working Stonegarden with the Jeff Davis County Sheriff's Office responded to a theft report at Lowe’s Grocery Store in Fort Davis.

Deputies located the two subjects in question in the 500 block of South State Street. During the investigation, one suspect was found to have an active warrant through the Austin Board of Pardons and Parole for Dangerous Drug Possession.

A search of both subject, Ruben Adele Cameron and Levi Henry Thatcher, resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine, L*D, syringes, and a THC v**e pen. Both subjects were arrested for Possession of Controlled Substances and transported to the Hudspeth County Jail without incident.

🚨🚨Update 🚨🚨

The Valentine ISD lockdown has been lifted.

Valentine ISD was placed on lockdown early this morning following an armed burglary in the area. The suspect fled, prompting a large law enforcement response.

An officer-involved shooting has since occurred. The suspect has been located and the threat has been eliminated. The pursuit ended on RM 505, and the Texas Rangers will be conducting the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.

The Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office extends its thanks to the Marfa Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Presido County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Border Patrol for their assistance. All law enforcement personnel involved are safe and unharmed.

🚨🚨Lockdown has been lifted🚨🚨

Valentine ISD was placed on lockdown early this morning following reports of an armed burglary in the area. The suspect fled the scene, and multiple law enforcement agencies are actively searching nearby. The lockdown was implemented as a precaution to ensure the safety of students and staff.
