With fall on the horizon, campgrounds have started to close across the Arapaho Roosevelt Pawnee. The majority of sites will close for the 2026 season September 20, with select campgrounds remaining open either further into the fall or year-round. Planning to try your hand at dispersed camping? Remember that the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests remain in Stage 1 Fire Restrictions, with campfires prohibited outside of developed and hosted campgrounds and recreation areas. A food storage order is also in effect, requiring that all food, trash and “smellables” must be stored securely when unattended. Lock food in a vehicle or utilize a bear hang or bear canister, and keep your campsite clean to discourage visits from wildlife.

Rollins Pass/Corona Pass Road (NFSR 149) on the Sulphur Ranger District will be closed from September 21-25 for Xcel Energy to conduct emergency gas pipeline repairs. The closure will begin at the Upper 149 section of the road, above the historic train trestle. During construction, the road will be closed off for safety and only the construction crews will be allowed to access the area.

The Dadd Gulch Fire, located south of Highway 14 in the Poudre Canyon, is 100% contained. Firefighters and a helicopter continue with mop up activities today. Thank you to all the firefighting partners who helped with suppression efforts!

9 p.m. update: The Dadd Gulch Fire is now 80% contained.

7:30 p.m. update: The Dadd Gulch Fire is 50% contained at 0.27 acres. Firefighters will remain in the area overnight and continue efforts tomorrow morning.

The Dadd Gulch Fire, located south of Highway 14 in the Poudre Canyon, is estimated at 0.25 acres. Multiple firefighting agencies are responding and a helicopter is on scene.

The upper gate on the Mount Blue Sky Scenic Highway, located past Summit Lake, is now closed for the season. Non-motorized traffic is still permitted on the road between Summit Lake and the summit. Visitors planning to access the summit should check weather conditions prior to any trip. The lower section of the highway, accessing Mount Goliath and Summit Lake, will remain open to motor vehicles with a timed entry permit through October 4, weather permitting. The Burnett Gulch Fire is 100% contained and mop up efforts continue. Thank you to Larimer County Sheriff's Office, Lyons Fire Protection District and everyone who supported firefighting efforts.

09/07/2026

9/8 Update at 9:30 a.m.: Fire is now 75% contained. Lines held overnight and crews working on mop up activities today.

9/7 Update at 7:30 p.m.: Fire is 50% contained. Crews are hiking off for the evening but some resources will be spiked out in the area.

9/7 Update at 4 p.m.: Fire is 20% contained and estimated at 2.8 acres.

Forward progress has been stopped on the Burnett Gulch Fire, burning less than five acres north of Lyons, thanks to the coordinated efforts with Larimer County Sheriff's Office and Lyons Fire Protection District. Air resources continue to support ground crews as they work on building containment line around the fire. Helicopters are dipping water out of Carter Lake.
