The problem is the environmental impact and health issues these plants would have in our agricultural/residential area of the Weld County/Severance, Colo area. Asphalt is produced by mixing rock, sand and recycled asphalt with hot, gluey, petroleum-based asphalt cement. Asphalt plants produce the same emissions as power plants, including nitrogen oxides, hydrogen-sulfide, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, sulfur and lead oxides. These toxic emissions travel through the air settling out in high concentrations over sensitive areas affecting wildlife, fish and people. These toxic fumes have been proven to cause nosebleeds, breathing problems, and heart problems, decrease lung function in children, headaches, major health issues and multiple types of cancer. Children are very susceptible to these toxins. Living right next door this is a major concern for my children, my family and my neighbors. Air pollution affects the environment by harming soil, water, crops, forests, wildlife, decreasing visibility, and impacting global and local climate. Increases in global temperature (referred to as global warming) has resulted from an accumulation of greenhouse gases such as sulfur and lead oxides, hydrogen-sulfide, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, sulfur and lead oxides which are all produced by asphalt plants. Again, the problem is not the visibility factor. Please Weld County Commissioners, do not approve the permits for the asphalt batch plant or the concrete batch plant.

We are now asking for e-signatures against the Simon Contractors Asphalt and Cement batch facility proposed to be located at Weld County Rd 80 1/2 Weld County, Colorado. This Residential and Industrial Compliance Committee was formed to give the area residence and home owner a group to reach out to and have concerns investigated. This committee will follow issues and provide reference materials to any groups. Rather than leaving our local governments and representatives to take action. This site will record complaints, issues any test results and letters sent to the Asphalt company and local commissioners. We are more powerful as a united group and need to be organized against these companies that twist information and pay off
"professional" testimony that covers up the real health and welfare risks we face.
