Agricultural Water Conservation Clearinghouse

Agricultural Water Conservation Clearinghouse The conservation of ag water in semi-arid, arid, and drought regions world-wide

The Agricultural Water Conservation Clearinghouse (AWCC) is designed as a one-stop location for the latest news, literature and tools regarding ag water conservation. Agriculture consumes an estimated 90% of available water resources in the western US. Given that future water needs for a growing population will come from agriculture, it is becoming increasingly urgent for water users and policy-makers to understand and implement ag water conservation.

https://bit.ly/3wEGyQiThis project evaluates the economic feasibility studies of using recycled plastics from drip irrigations.
If successful, this process could create a new, more sustainable material supply chain for the irrigation industry, and create new opportunities for small business interested in recycling plastics. Housed within the Center for Irrigation Technology and Water, Energy, and Technology Center, this project will be able to support business ventures supporting recycled drip tape if proven to be feasible.

Economic evaluations give context and visualizations of the current irrigation industry, and helps us prepare for future challenges such as recessions or public health crisis. Additionally, understanding the scope and impact of the irrigation industry incentivizes adoption of water conserving technology through policy change.

Come see our IIC researcher and panelist, George Oamek on 5.4.22 to learn more about the economic evaluation of the irrigation industry.
