FTCKY IPAP students recently had the privilege of training alongside the medics of 1-506th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). The training began with the evaluation of combat trauma lanes, allowing students to assess casualty management and provide feedback on tactical medical care in an operational environment. Students then participated in a Role 1 medical treatment scenario, reinforcing the principles of triage and team-based medical care. The event concluded with a Human Performance (H2F) brief, highlighting the resources and capabilities available to enhance Soldier lethality, resilience, and readiness. Opportunities like these strengthen the integration of future Army Physician Assistants with operational medical assets and reinforce our commitment to supporting the warfighter wherever the mission takes us. Thanks to 1LT Alexandria Hendrix for facilitating this training for us. “From the line, for the line!”

Last week, our IPAP students had the opportunity to learn Battlefield Acupuncture techniques from Mr. Brill (a former Army PA!). Great hands-on training focused on expanding non-opioid pain management skills and improving patient care. FTCKY IPAP leads the way!

Hands-on trauma training with the best. 💥 Today, our PA students trained medics from the 101st and hospital teams on trauma management and lifesaving skills. Grateful for the opportunity to learn, teach, and train alongside such dedicated leaders and soldiers. Building readiness one training at a time. 🇺🇸🩺

Not your average classroom day. Army PA students getting hands-on training with lateral canthotomies — because preserving vision in high-pressure situations takes skill, confidence, and repetition. Proud of this group stepping up to learn lifesaving procedures. 🇺🇸

The FTCKY IPAP students recently led a comprehensive, round-robin training event for 101st ABN DIV (AASLT) medics, focusing on critical, hands-on skills essential in high-acuity environments. Stations included finger thoracostomy, chest tube placement, ultrasound-guided IV access, hemorrhage control, pelvic stabilization, suturing, and intraosseous access. This collaborative training emphasized proficiency, confidence, and readiness to deliver lifesaving care when it matters most.

Our Army PA program hosted a hands-on trauma training earlier this month! 🩺💥
We were joined by radiology techs and medics from across the hospital, making it a true team effort. Practicing real-world trauma scenarios together helped us sharpen our skills, improve communication, and strengthen collaboration across departments.
Nothing beats learning by doing—and doing it together!

Two weeks ago we had the opportunity to honor our Preceptor of the Cycle for IPAP Class 23-3. Although graduation looked different due to weather, we still wanted to recognize the incredible impact she had on class 23-3.
Her dedication to teaching, mentorship, and patient care helped shape the class not only as future providers but as better clinicians and teammates. We are grateful for the time, effort, and guidance she invested in the preceptorship of our students.
1LT Kolbe, one of our our newest graduates, was honored to present her with a Civilian Achievement Medal in recognition of the difference she made during this cycle.
Thank you for everything you did for Class 23-3 — your influence will carry forward in the care they provide throughout their careers. 🇺🇸⚕️

It’s been a busy few weeks here at your favorite IPAP Phase II site!

The month of January was packed with critical hands-on training opportunities for our students.

CPT Hartline (Phase II Clinical Coordinator) and CPT Wagner (Co-Clinical Coordinator) provided comprehensive instruction and training on E-FAST procedures, ensuring students gained both the knowledge and practical skills necessary for real-world application.

We were also fortunate to have Mr. Brill, PA-C, dedicate even more of his time to teaching—always a huge hit with our students! He provided hands-on training in Occipital Nerve Blocks, a procedure involving the injection of anesthetic and steroids around the occipital nerves to help relieve chronic headaches, occipital neuralgia, and migraines.

Our students thoroughly enjoy these opportunities to learn and perform advanced clinical procedures, which play a key role in preparing them for credentialing and success after graduation."

1LT Kolbe received his First Salute from MSG Nickolaus Mattingly. The Silver Dollar Salute is a long-standing U.S. military tradition where a newly commissioned officer presents a silver dollar to the first enlisted member who salutes them. Dating back to the 19th century, this act symbolizes respect, gratitude for mentorship, and the "buying" of the very first salute.

OC Todd Miller earned Pi Alpha for his Academic Achievements during IPAP. During graduation he was presented with a Cord, Pin, and Certificate.
